well, they kindof added new sections. where the track splits and either crosses over the dragstrip or continues straight to a left is what is "new."
the portion that crosses over the dragstrip was there before, but it hadn't been used in i think at least 5 years as the pavement was too torn up. i think they changed the layout somewhat from where it crosses the dragstrip to where it rejoins the track on the other side, but i haven't driven the old or new layout, so i really can't say.
it's the same with "turn zero" as i had heard that they were going to regrate that incline so it wasn't so abrubt and make other small changes to it. if i ever go out there to look, i'll be able to tell just how different it is, but the actual "hump" and turn have been there for 2 years now.
the rest of the track is the same AFAIK. by the looks of it, there are no fewer than 3692 lines through that first carousel.

 i assume that massive expanse of asphault in the in field is the new solo2 pad. anybody have an overhead of that area that includes forbes? the size of the pad in numbers doesn't mean much, a visual comparison of the two would mean a lot more.

It is hard to tell, but looking at the surrounding area, it seems like putting 2 nationals style courses on there will be a pretty tight fit.
edit: looking at it again, I just dunno. Maybe it's humongous!

The black lake auto-x pad (aka the new south paddock), is large enough to fit two Forbes Field South course areas into. To make the most of the available space, grid, timing and other support functions will have to be situated off the pad.
I went out to take a look at it last month during Nationals, and the scale of it is very deceiving.

Hard to tell without having accurate scale, but i'd believe the new pad could fit two courses on there.

Word on the skreetz is that some of the tighter parts of the road course will also be used for Nationals. Who knows. It's a bigass piece of land though, the paddock area at HPT is ginormous, and the new asphalt lot is ginormous without any grass in the way.

Purely IMO, but I don't think it's too much to ask for 60 second courses with good "yee haw" factor at an event the caliber of national championships. Maybe if they utilize part of the track as well...
