So what did you guys think of the fine driving techniques and gentlemanly conduct shown by the pros in the season ender for the WC GT. I thought it was deplorable, and rather far from what I would consider sportsman-like. Shoving that little teal blue Porsche out of the way was a sad moment in my view. Perhaps others saw it differently. There was a lot at stake, but I am not sure I would hold those guys up as a fine example for people starting into the sport, unless demolition derby is what you have in mind. The WC TC was however a lot more representative of how pros should drive.
Yea, that race was rediculous. I hope GM and Cadillac are real proud of themselves now although it's not like I'm surprised. They've been pushing their weight around all year.
The Touring Car race though was fantastic. That was just good, clean, hard racing despite having Acura's and Mazda's running nose to tail for the manufacturers championship and PD and Randy doing the same for the drivers championship. Both Realtime and TriPoint had the opportunity for "creative driving" and "team tactics" in order to help secure the championships but neither did.
Excellent, stand up racing! Oh yea, and congrats to PD and Acura for winning the championships.

Couldn't agree more on both counts - Touring, good; GT, bad.
The next time someone here starts ranting about how Nextel Cup has become the WWF of auto racing, we'll play them a tape of the Caddie black-shirts billy-clubbing their way to a championship.

The only complaint I had about the Touring race was the coverage on the last lap. I understand wanting the show the winner, but the race for the constructor's championship was nose to tail, and they never even showed them finish! They followed the Audi on his cooldown lap instead of showing PD and Randy cross the line!!! In my opinion, every camera they had should have been on PD and Randy for the entire lap. That's just me though.
To PD and Randy - two of the best road racers in the world.

I had the same thought yesterday. How are we supposed to expect the new guys to drive without doing the "bob and weave" to prevent a pass and then the hip check if you do get by?

That GT race was one of the worst I've seen in at least 4 years. I was cursing them just about every friggen lap and caution lap. I timed roughly 37 minutes of full course cautions. And for Chrissakes thats edited for viewing.
The Touring race on the other hand with the exception of what is mentioned above about the coverage of the last lap was worth it.
But quite a bit of what they kept mentioning about all the full off's for the GT was attributed to slippery surface? Slippery OK but that was blatant bumper car A la NASCAR style.
I had a better time watching the Japanese GP last week than Both of the Speed TC and GT races this week.
I used to love the GT races but noticed this season specifially a higher amount of car damage, full offs, full course cautions, etc that's making this series a waste of time to tape, watch and follow.

I agree with everybody about the GT and TC races. GT was like a hockey game! The black GM cars versus the world. They took out Henzler and that white Viper who would have had his best finish ever. My friend James Sofronas cleanly made it from 8th on the grid to 5th on the first lap but Henzler's teamate tried to repass and ran James off the road, breaking a sway bar in the process. James dropped to 21st and made it back up to 5th by the finish without having to push anybody out of the way. Leighton Reece did end up in the dirt but the comentator even said that he was stupid to try to run the outside around that corner when James already had the line.
for proof that it can be done without the chrome horn.

i watched it live, and agree that it wasn't kinda
. the thing is Wolf HAD to know they were going to pull something like that. Heck after i saw the LG vett get by i knew he was going to do somthing to get in the way of Wolf. Im learning quickly that these types of things always happen in pro racing, and you better learn how to miss the big punchs if you want to stay out there.

You cant ever say Lou Giglotti isnt a team player. this is the second time this year he has slowed up and let the Caddy's ahead. The way he booted Wolf in turn two was terrible.
I feel like Max and Caddy wouldnt have won the race if LG didnt help them out. Wolf for sure would have pulled away, and im sure Tommy Archer would have made his way to the front, with a little bit of contact of course.
Touring car race was awesome! Andrie Hartanto made it from 30th to 18th, even with a major slide in turn 3. congrats to acura and peter cunningham on both championships.
