Icebox Hydrolocked? (searched)
no! it is set-up like the oem air box with the filter up top. The air would be sucked from the engine bay instead of through the tube in the bumper if water was present.

correct
correct
is that why the airbox isn't sealed completely? cause I know most people seal it off.
cause if you seal it how is it sucking air from the bay?

rephrase: It is a bigger piping diameter with the stock set-up and a hi-flow filter. Less obstructions in it's design from the oem resonator/air box/air inlet piping.

I'm sorry, My question wasn't "what is an icebox" it was if I seal off the gap between my exit piping going into the TB and the icebox it's self, will i have to worry about hydrolocking because at that point the box is "sealed".
Sorry i've I confused you guys.
Sorry i've I confused you guys.
Basically look at it this way. The icebox is a stock airbox with a pipe the goes behind ur passenger turn signal. Behind there it sucks in air, which travels up the piping into the the actual box, where the air is pressurized because of the box design and goes straight into the intake filter, through the arm, into the throttle body.
I noticed in my icebox there is a small hole in the pipe that leads up to the box, it's halfway between the box and the opening of the pipe near the turn signal. I'm guessin in the event that the icebox's piping is submerged in water, a sufficient amount of air is sucked through that hole and through the gaps between the intake filter and the some of the gaps between the filter and the box(sorry if it sounds a lil confusing)
Basically a regular cai is destroyed through ingesting water because the filter itself it located on the end, once the filter is submerged in water, then water will go in the motor regardless, because the intake is soaked. The icebox uses a pipe that transfer the cold air from the bottom then to the filter itself. The filter doesn't come in contact with water so you're pretty much safe.

The joint at the bottom of the air box itself where the horn connects is not completely sealed for one, and in the bottom of the box where the filter element sits has a 1/4 inch hole in it to further lower the possibility of it becoming a straw for unwanted drink.
