Help on Bucket seats
I got an 89 Si hb. I tried to put 91 si seats in but the rails and brackets didnt line up at all. I tried calling different shops to see if sparco or other brands carried buckets with rails made for an 89 but had no luck. Does anyone know any other brand of Seats that bolt in besides drilling new holes in the frame
I had the same nightmare with my 89 Hatch. Heres what i did first. To get the 91 Si seats to fit I took one track from my stock seat and swapped it with one on the Si seat. You will only be able to swap on track, because the other one doesn't fit.
since the Si seats have a wider bolt pattern, you will have to cut the hump in the floor on the other side and drill holes. I DO NOT RECCOMEND DOING THIS!
after getting one of the Si seats in. I was not happy with the fit, it didn't sit right and you couln't adjust the seat, it was so low it was stuck in one position. So since i already screwed up my floor by cutting the hump that the stock seats bolt to, I got me a set of 5th Gen civic seats, did a little more cutting and they fit great. all of the seat adjustments work fine and with a little shimming they sit right.
Heres the downfall, i will NEVER be able to bolt the original seats in the car again
you'll notice when drilling into the floor of these cars the sheet metal is very thin and will need some extra reinforcment from underneath to be safe especially in the event of a collision. so what i did on both sides where my bolts go thru the floor I put a 1/4 piece of plate steel about 18 inches long and about 2.5 inches wide with holes drilled in it. The bolts that hold the seat down go thru this piece of steel
basically what it does is it speads the load out over a wider area instead of just where the bolts go thru the floor. if you don't do this you chance those bolts pulling right through the floor in the even of an accident and that wouldn't be cool
It damn near killed me to chop my car up this way. I would suggest trying to find some kind of combination that will bolt in. I hear you might be able to swap the buckets on some seats so you can use your stock tracks. Its too late for me to do that, maybe someone else knows more about that option that seems much safer and easier
hope this helps sorry for rambling on

i have drilled the floor pan before and the 91 si seats fit well with sheet metal srews one hole lines up the rest need srews and washers to make it fit right but they fit straight and compfy to. but swaping the buckets is better
thats y i said swap the buckets alot better fit and safer read the whole post but yeh no ejecter seats u dont want to end up in a corn feild without the parachute function ouch
I put '93 5G seats in my '89 HB. Had to make 2 holes where the front of the rear seats fit. everything else fit for the back brakets & bolts it perfect ( you have to bend the wire frame and cut some foam out to clear the fuel filler pipe). On the front I took my old rails with some 1/4 x 2" stock acros the fron pan mounts, some 2" angle across the back monts, and some 1" x 2" retagular tubing front to back on the outside mount to acount for the height of where the seat mounts change inner to outer. Once everything was aligned and drilled to fit and test fitted in the car I tack welded the removed the brackets and fully welded the adapter and bolted everything up with new grade 8 hardware after painting them black. The new seats fit like they belong there. Since I couldnet get integra or civic seats in blue that were in good shape and fit. I could find a matching set of these for $100 total. Not perfect but very good condition.

Like what most people said, the easiest is to use the seat bottom from your 89 seats. Just take them apart and put the 91 Si cushion and material onto the 89 bottom. I had an 88 Civic std and I put 90 DX seats on it which were way off. Funny thing was that the stock seats were weird when I got the car. The handles to adjust the recline were in toward the e-brake instead of on the outside toward the door
I tried switching them and then tried swapping rails back and forth but nothing worked. Was anyone else's seats like this or is it possible that someone frigged around with the seats before it made it's way to me?

nah man the 88 std at least mine had the seatadjuster on the inside not outside and there was a litle popthing on the outside to lift up on to pull it forward to let people in... so his seats are normal
Zip ties
im kidding.. unfortunately they should line up.
When sparco sent rails out for me for my seats it was 89-91 Si rails. All rails were the same except for the 88Si
Sparco carries them.. But I recommend you to take the rails off your old seat and strap em onto your new Si seats.
