Default Tail Light Tinting help

Okay, I have a small project I wanted to get started on. I have altezza tail lights, and I wanted to tint them, because I want my car blacked out. The reason i decided to do this was, since I bought them off ebay whenever it rains water actually builds up in them. I figure I have to open them up and use some silicon and seal it up better. Since im going to be doing that what is the best way to tint them? Is there some kind of special paint you use to do that? Any ideas would be helpful, thanks.

There is a rattle can with translucent paint. Not sure that brand or the color though

actually just remember this from a DIY article I read a while back. Go to your local arts/crafts store and get the spray paint for making stained glass (like you would see in a church)
