Default Intake manifold questions...

I have a SOHC ZC in my CRX (mini me on the way) and I want to upgrade my intake manifold. I've heard that the D16Y8 IM is like the "type r" IM for d series. Why is that? How would a Y8 IM compare to say a Skunk2 or an OBX-R (for price similarities)?

it also has smaller plenum & diameter/longer runners

I've heard the y8 manifold hype for far too long. if you compare it side by side to a z6 manifold, you'll see that the y8 manifolds runners are actually *longer* than the z6, making it less than optimal for high rpm power. also notice the seemingly large y8 plenum, and then notice that, yes, it is "fatter", but its also not as long. The Y8 only makes 2 more hp than the z6, and even though you might say a 2hp gain is better than nothing, i highly doubt that its all due to the intake manifold.

conclusion? pay to play. the aftermarket manifolds have large plenums, shorter fatter runners, usually look nicer in the appearance department, and have items such as additional fuel injector bosses.

If you're going on cost alone, get the y8 as its alot cheaper.

I figured aftermarket would be better. Anyone know how good the OBX-R IM is? It looks decent, and looks to be a copy of the Venom brand. I know OBX usually sucks, but sometimes they have good **** (ex: LSD). Also, it's not going to get really hot or anything which would put lots of stress on it. However I'm worried that what's on the inside is shitty compared to, say, the Venom.
