Best sub $700 coilover?
What is the best sub $700 coilover I can get for my ek? I have seen omni, ugr, and skunk2. Which is the best of these and are there others that need mention as well?
personaly I would go with ground control and maybe some tokico blues or the red konis for a cheep setup.
You can get a set of Koni reds on shox.com for 336.00 shipped and a set of ground controls off ebay for $275.00 shipped. Thats $611.00 total and when is all said and done in the future you can replace your shocks if you blow one, change your shocks to better ones or change spring rates wich you cant really do with the other setups.

the reds are adjustable but you have to compress the shock to adjust them, which can be a pita if you want to adjust them often and don't have access to that spiffy tool someone made that allows you to keep them on the car when adjusting. i think tyson knows what it is, i seem to remember him posting a link to it a while back...

dont use the tokico blues, you might as well keep your stock shocks, worst investment ever!
koni yellows and some h&r race springs would also be a good combo. if thats your budget, dont waist your money on replacement shocks. go for a good set.

What about GC w/ KYB AGX? The AGX are adjustable and can be had for around $300 off eBay. I was toying around with this idea but I have no clue what I wanna get. Just throwing something out there.
I thought about this too, and then I checked out the shock dyno for the agxs, the adjustment range is in the middle not where you want it.

oh ok, thanks for responding. I suppose I will steer away from getting these shocks then. I guess I will learn how to read and check some shock dynos first before I decide. Thanks!

I think the Ksports are probably the best in that price range. Other people have their own opinion, but I have had a pretty good opportunity to test a lot of suspension products on my EM-1.
yea I am very interested in the apexs espeicially after seeing some of the development work you are putting into the selects, however I would like to wait and see them tested on others. The koni and gc setup will soon go back to 1200 and that is way out of my price range. I believe money would be better put to use gettign a cheaper coilover and a good set of tires. The ksport and d2 (they are the same right) seem like a good idea, except for the fact that they don't offer different shock valving for their differing available spring setups, I'm guessing you are supposed to compensate for this by adjusting the rebound? I will look into them more though.

I doubt it.
I doubt it.
I read the for sale thread in the sponsors forum and I guess they do offer custom valving, but you are obviously not getting them for under $700. Questions I would ask if I were interested in buying a set:
-Who revalves them
-where are they revalved
-what is the lead time
-do I get before and after dyno's (so its not another JIC fiasco)
-what is the warranty on a revalved kit
