HEY WSUP PEOPLE I WANTED TO GET A TURBO KIT FOR MY 02 TYPE S DIDNT KNOW WHICH ONE TO GO WITH... I GUESS I WANT A TURBO KIT WITH THE POWER AND ONE THAT PEOPLE HAVE LESS PROBLEMS WITH...IF YOU ALSO KNOW OF ANOTHER KIT YOU LIKE PLEASE PUT SOME INPUT.... SORRIE IF THERE WAS A POST BEFORE LIKE THIS I COULDNT FIND IT
How much power do you want to make and how much money do you have to spend? Give me a ballpark and I'll tell you the pros and cons of the kits that meet your criteria.

HKS might be expensive but they have been in the industry the longest. Not to put any of these other companies down but the reliability in there kits and potential is priceless.

Believe it or not HKS has been having some problems with their setup. It seems the actuator on the internal wastegate is not allowing people to boost past 8 psi. HKS won't acknowledge the problem and instead just give people a link to purchase a stronger actuator.
Also the potential of the HKS is not that great. Its using a small GT2835 that gets maxed out at around 400 hp. The manifold is an inefficient "log" style and the downpipe is only 2.65" and even smaller at some points.
Not to sound like I am bashing HKS but there are definately better options out there for the price.

I've read several accounts of this over on CRSX. Someone's been doing their homework.

well dont plan on hitting 400-500hp w/o building the motor.... i know there are a few guys out there that are on the stock motor... but dont count on it lasting... with stock motor, you can safely hit 320-350 at around 10-12psi depending on the kit... i dont know much about the SCI kit, maybe you can clue me in. personally i am going with a custom kit on my EP3 using Kpro, SC44, and possible full race manifold, if not, then the SFP manifold...
turbo isnt something you can put on the car and call it a day... you have to know how it works and what everything does, that way when, not if, something goes wrong, you will know how to handle it... turbos, especially the more intense ones, cybernation, full-race, custom, require lots of attention.... if your not to familiar with turbos, you might want to go with a greddy kit and kpro... the are plenty greddy/kpro rsx-s's out there putting out around 300whp at 10psi.... you also may want to check out a Jackson Racing S/C./... to learn more, you may want to sign up at clubrsx.com... if you have thought of it, it has been done there... plenty of nice people on there to help you out, just search thoroughly before posting.

If you want 400-500 hp here is what you need.
Pistons
Rods
Sleeved Block
Head Bolts
Right there you are looking at almost 4 grand unless you do the work yourself. Its not safe to run that much power on a stock block.

theres a few, like 3 i think, but 2 of them already put there cars back to stock or are building there motors... so now i think there is only 1, and hes building a motor right now too
Yeah, nobody knows how long those motors are going to last. I wouldn't push a stock motor past 350 hp. Even that is pushing it. Even though Brandon on CRSX has 515 hp all stock motor.
As for the SCI kit, they are a small company out of San Antonio Texas. The manifold is unique because it is a sidewinder. It comes out to the side and the turbo sits where your stock airbox would be. The intercooler is top to bottom flow which has been proven to be more efficient that your regular intercooler. All cold pipes get powerdercoated and the manifold and downpipe gets heat treated. As opposed to other companies like CN and even full race that leave their pipes uncoated.
I chose SCI because their customer service is excellent and the kit is competatively priced at 3500 dollars without engine management and injectors. The kit is also 600+ hp capable with no parts needing to be changed except the fuel system. SCI also uses Tial for the blow off valve and wastegate. Where CN uses some cheap wastegate that is known to creep.
They manufacture the kit once you order so it does take 4-6 weeks to get it, but it is worth the wait.

i see that the cybernation stage 2 kit comes with pistons&rods and flywheel and injectors and s-afc and air/fuel and boost gauage and also vortec fmu and the black magic elf2 for 5299... do you think its worth it? for an additional 150-200 hp?
To tell you the truth I am not fond of the CN turbo kit. I originally started piecing one together and had a CN manifold and downpipe. The quality on the welds was so poor that I sold it.
I do like their pistons and rods though. They have been proven to be reliable with high boost for quite a few people. But with that said Black Magic and an Apexi S-AFC is not the proper way to tune. Especially for over 400 hp.
If you have 5200 to spend I would go with a full race or SCI kit and build with your own internals.

Yes Greddy's cheap oil lines have been a problem for at least three people over at CRSX. Let's just say their cars aren't with us anymore.
But the rest of Greddy's kit is well put together. Just swap out their oil lines for some stainless ones and the kit is excellent for 350 hp or less.
I was going to go with greddy but once again the log style manifold and small turbo turned me away.

Those pistons and rods are not Cybernations. They're Eagle rods and Wiseco pistons.
