CF Roof EK (I searched)
Carbon Fiber Roof
Some people like it, Some or should I say most hate it.
However in the other posts when I searched everyone just always ended up arguing and making fun of eachother.
Im just curious on where and how to get it done. I think if done properly it could look really nice with the carbon hatch and hood.
Just something to differentiate from every other hatch.
Any help would be awesome.
Thanks

i suppose you'd have to use a saw or cutting wheel to remove your current roof, make supports in the shape of your roof, lay the CF and spread on the resin
i have no idea on where to get it done.
i'd think the easiest way would be to lay it over the stock roof, and have the seam end under the drip rails.that would keep the strength and safety of the stock roof in place.
maybe try posting this in the fab forum-there are some C/F guys there.

you would think that it will be too dangerous for the metal roof to be removed, and replaced with a CF layed Roof, without any sort of roll cage protection,
most people will lay it over the top of the OEM roof. OEM rigity is there, and strength and safety...
just make your roof is straight, and that you paint the roof black first... because ive seen one roof with a slight dent in the side, and the carbon makes it stick out..
and the painting of the roof, just ensures that if the carbon weave stretches it wont show up the paint...

There ARE some places that do this, I was at a friends body shop and they were fixing a Cobra R that races in the American Iron road race series... the car had a full CF roof that was riveted on.
He didn't know exactly what shop the guy got it dont at but he said it was at least a few thousand dollars.

Thanks for some decent responses.
The overlay is what I was going for, I dont want to lose the rigidity of the stock unibody contruction.
Any Idea's where to get the Carbon Fiber?

yep. Automations also did this to a White WRX. Both are way hot. PM automationcivic for more info on this. shots of the car are in the classifieds section, as the Suzuka Blue Hatch is now for sale.
