Default Tried to change propvalve mounting brackets....help

I got a 4040 prop valve for my eg rear disc conversion ,. seeing the mounting brackets were not the same, I decided to switch them out (WHY I didnt research this here first, I dont know) I had the bit to take out the screws- I got the screws out of the 4040 but the ones on my original prop vale(screws) stripped- apperently the screws are not made to be removed . After searching here, I find people saying you cant open up the prop valves or youll screw up the calibration (unscrewing from mount also unscrews the 2 halves of the prop valve. Well- i did take the screws out of my 4040- but I DID c-clamp the two 4040 halves together (before the screws were all the way out) after I noticed they were seperating from the each other- so- Am I ok if I put it back together?- or do I need to start looking for a new 4040??

bump for answers- again, the proportioning valve was allowed to seperate about an 1/8 of an inch before I saw the spring inside and decided it flying all over the place (when i took the screws out) would not be a good idea. So after that, it was C-clamped the whole time until i put the screws back in.
