would an 8in woofer be okay installed on the rear panel right above the rear seats?
You'll want to build it a little enclosure for them b/c having them free air wont sound very good.....just my opinion though.
iv seen 3 10" highs there but not subs. i would think the subs would rattle and bounce to much
i think a close trunk would act as an enclosure. i dont know, i'll just do it since i have an extra trunk lid anyways.
closed trunk would not act as a inclosure, way to much airspace for small *** sub,

theres my set up, i used to have a alpone type r and i did it the same way, and didnt fiberglass the spare tire well, cause i went with the same theory it should be enclosed with the wood over it, it sounded like ****, and no kinda bass, to much air space, buildd a encloseure underneath it, or u can mimic my setup and fiberglass the spare tire well, and mdf wood ofer it and mold the fiberglass mold to the wood

They're subs, therefore they will need an enclosure no matter what, in order to perform properly. I understand where you want to put them, but I'm just letting you know it will sound like you have some shitty blown woofer cone speakers in the back. It will be a waste of money.
i was thinking about this as well. one company makes an open air sub for this application. if you go on crutchfield.com and read about some of the subs they have one that is for open air. let me know how this works.
the open air subs still need an airtight or almost airtite trunk. THere are membrane pads that go behind speakers to dampen them that will do the trick. You can use these with open air and regular subs. Type in aperiodic membranes into google and you will see.
Even if air space wasn't a problem, I don't think the trunk lid would support the weight of the sub (not for long anyways).

Verbol......that's fine man. Just get your subs.....install it like you're saying.
Make sure you buy the warranty on it also because you WILL BE taking it
back in 1, if not, 2 weeks, GUARANTEED!
****, I only took out the ports of my enclosure and my subs blew out in 5 days.
That's just the ports....you're talkin bout a damn thing breathing in a whole huge trunk. Good luck dude

if you want bling, buy a carbon fiber trunk lid. Someone on here producing them, gotta search i dunno. That would hold up forever and look.....umm...different... Not my style but not to say its not your.

No it will not. Im not flaming but free air doesnt mean it doesnt need a sealed air space . It just means it is well damped and can use an air space such as a trunk better than subs designed for small sealed and ported enclosures. It will not work properly in a teg and will tear up the speaker quite quickly. Read up on it at http://www.mobileaudio.com , read the faq section on subwoofers. This site is written by experts check their credentials.
put them where your stock rears go or build up the rear panel and build a box out of cardboard then soak it with resin and lay fiberglass over it polyester cloth works well also. They will fit in the stock rear location if you do a little fab work and take out the trim panels. Reinforce the metal with glass and spray foam and you will be ok build a mounting plate from mdf and seal it all up . Or lay some dynamat in the spare tire well and then put mdf over it and mount the drivers.

Looks to me from looking at the FAQ site that an infinite-baffle driver would work if there was a way to get a good seal between the passenger area and the cargo area. However that's probably not real feasable unless the rear seats were ditched for some kind of rigid board that could be sealed against the cargo cover lid (seat cushions against cargo lid = no air seal).
the hindges that hold that piece up are weak to but if u really wanna do this its simple, mae a box, jsut dont seal it on the top.... cut out the speaker hole on top, drill through the top with screws to hold the rest of the box... tht seems liek alot of weight to hold though off of those 2 whack *** hinges

UPDATE:
tried to install the 8in woofer today on my integra rear panel and came into something that I did not expect.
After half way cutting the board, I came across a metal bar. I looked under the panel, and found out that there were TWO ******* metal bars embedded inside the wooden panel and that there is no way in hell i can cut through it.
So to answer my own question, NO, it is not okay to intall the woofers on the rear panel right above the seats.
What a ******* bitch. I need a new panel.

LOL!! You'll get no sympathy here, man... After reading the thread and that the general consensus is that putting subs there is a bad idea, you went ahead and tried it anyways...
