Default overheating

I have a 95 honda civic DX and it keeps over heating and when I check the coolant it is always empty but there is no sign of any leaks and I have already tried replacing the radiator cap. ????? any Ideas??

Ever see it leaking onto the driveway anywhere. It could also be a leaky heater core or a bad water pump. Has the timing belt/water pump been replaced yet?

does your car smell really bad when you drive it, sort of a coolant burning smell?
