Car sounds like a friggin diesel, help!
Ok so here's the scenario:
I'm driving home tonight, got about 22k miles on my 2000 type-r. Everytime I'm slowing down coming to a stop, or accelerating, I hear a nasty sound from the engine bay like metal rattling. So, I put it up on some ramps and have a friend rev it up. The best I can tell, it's coming from somewhere near the tranny close to the oil pan. For a second I thought it was just the header clanking again the oil pan but I don't think that's the case as I put some cardboard in between and it still rattled. I think it's coming from inside the tranny
Anyone have any clue what this might be?

You know... after some research, and a swift kick in the ****, I found hey, I have a Carsound Cat, notorious for a "bad batch". Hmm, now, has anyone had any luck doing something about this?
I got EXACTLY same sound before in my R.
Unfortunately it is broken rod bearing. (Not my fault, I am still running in that engine.)
Another possibility I can think of is a losen heat shield.
My $0.02.

Does it sound like something's rattling/banging around inside the block area?
That's what happened to mine. I spun a rod bearing. Not cool.

i've got something similair, but it's only at like 2800 rpms, then it goes away. was this symptomatic of what you guys who had bad rod bearings heard?
how doesn your's happen?
My rod bearing broke for no reason (I am still running in that engine. Always keep it below 4krpm and the rod bearing spun for no reason). Still can't figure out why up to now (replace under warranty, they just BS me. I tend to believe it is a manufacture defect).

I agree with everyone else, that's at least one spun bearing.
-Dave, who is sick of spun bearings in new fuggen POS itrs.

Sounds familier. I've been out over a month thanks to a spun bearing. Acura thinks its a bent crank. They replace the crank bearings with out replacing the crank and I got about 20 miles out of it and had to have it towed back to the dealership. I'm pussing corporate to get me a new short block as it is total crap. Only 10k miles on the motor.
