I agree.. hate the look of the dash board on 4th gen. I'm guessing the honda factory decided to change the original look for the 5th gen because they felt that the 4th gen are kinda sloppy with the dash board like that.

It's a sexy little beast.
Also IBTL.

4th gen for life......although....a couple of my friends have 5th gen's and i love them just the same........Prelude all together is sexy lol
performance - 4th gen.
handling - never ridden in a 5th gen so i say 4th gen!
styling(exterior) - easily 4th gen! i'm not into the boxy thing. i love low hoodline, low roofline, sleek cars with a squatting look to them.
styling(interior) - the 5th gen is too normal. i love the 4th gen, especially when converting the gauges to all blue color.
overall: needless to say i voted 4th gen!
my only complaint: they're getting old and real hard to find rustless anywhere, let alone in the northeast. if honda reproduced the prelude 4th gen, i'd buy one! (with optional 6th gear
)

4th gen in allcategories.
Unique, functional and cozy interior.
Dash board, and LCD gauges kick ***!
Headlights that look better than the 5th gen ones.
Nice low stock ground clearance.
They look great with a High wing spoiler
The car is so small, if you put even a 17inch rim on it, it makes the wheels look like 20s!
Totally classic sports compact car styling. Mine looks like a little silver bullet.......except for the rust over the rear wheels! LOL

i think the 4th gens are more sexy looking, curvy kinda like how i like my ladies, but the 5th gens are very "cool" looking, with sharper lines and a more modern look.......
I used to own a 4th Gen and would constantly mock the 5th Gen looks. But, I now own a 5th Gen and probably love it more than I ever loved my 4th Gen...though it is hard to compare a 1993 Si 4WS with a 2001 Type-SH...in any category.

Well, I've never driven in a stock car that handles better than my Type-SH. I read somewhere that the 5th Gen Prelude has among the best (if not the best) handling for FWD cars. And the Prelude Type-SH has, by far, the best handling for FWD cars and can compete with RWD cars like the Dodge Viper as far as cornering goes.
Also...what about the 1st Gen? I actually prefer it to the 2nd Gen....

Such beautiful lines on the 4th gen. Also ahem the JUN Prelude is a 4th gen.......
My only complaint is that it was not designed for people with giraff legs in mind.

Dude, I think you are stretching it a little too much. No one EVER said it was BY FAR the best handling FWD. It won that award a few times in a row. I do know that. However, they never compared it to any of the previous cars to the Type SH. It is a great handling car, but don't stretch it.
Even though I own a 4th Gen, for some reason the 5th Gen does not appeal to me at all. I never give them a second look. Put the 5th Gen taillights on a 4th gen and you will have one cool azz car.

With most front-drive cars, applying too much throttle too quickly when exiting a corner unloads the front suspension and causes the car to understeer. Enter ATTS. Hit the gas past the apex of a corner and the Prelude simply pulls itself around. Being able to accelerate through turns pays big dividends, as this allows the Prelude to carry more speed on the straights. It also gives the car a much more neutral handling bias, and our editors said that driving the Prelude almost felt like driving a rear-wheel-drive car.</TD></TR></TABLE>

The ATTS really fooled me into believing that it was a rear-drive car.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Either way, the previous poster mentioned 4th vs. 5th as far as handling. There really is no comparison to be made there. The 5th Gen is a lot better.
Obviously it is just one persons statement/opinion (and I can't even find it at the moment) but while I was researching the 5th Gen and trying to decide if I wanted to buy one, I remember reading about how well the Type-SH does on the track even when compared to RWD cars like (a specific mention) the Dodge Viper.
