Default Inexpensive, reliable, compact band saw...

Whats your choice?

My concerns are pretty much in that order. Price, reliability, and size.

I need it to be large enough to cut nicely through sche 40. The ones that I have seen thus far, are either huge, or very very expensive.

TIA!
Bryson

this is the one in our shop. good bang for the buck at under $1000 new. will cut sch40 no problem. we cut SS all the time for header fab.

are you looking for a floor model or hand held?

we have an old kalamazoo, paid $700 for it used at auction i think, and i made $600 with it the last 3 weeks. they will cut forever. DOAll is the other serious brand. looks for one with slef contained coolant, standing there oiling sucks.

Define Compact.

I bought a Horizontal Bandsaw that is about 3' high X 4' Long X 1' deep. Has a 4"x6" cutting span and about 0 - 60deg angle adjust. THe thing works like a Charm!!! Takes a 64.5" Band.

Paid 225.00 Brand new and gets used a hella lot!!!

Harbor Freight sells the same one, I have it and love it. The blade does slip off if the piece either jumps to much or if you feed the piece into the saw to fast. Besides that though, its great.

Ya, for 199.00 Form Habour Frieght it has a Verticle table option. That would be nice. But I already have a verticle.

I run Bi-Metal Blades Also. I might build a ank and incorperate a coolant/oiling system with a small pump. I wouldn't trade this saw for a Chop Saw any day. I love it.

So how did you end up fixing your angled blade problem?

Welp, I just bought a Harbor Freight band saw. I went up to my local store on monday, and checked em out. It seemed pretty good quality, and they had it on sale for 169. I thought the price was too good to pass up. First thing I'm going to do however, is buy a bi-metal blade for it.

Thanks guys!

That should work, just recently I started to use the bandsaw to cut vertical style and I'm very happy with the results.

Canadians, "Delta" makes the exact same saw with a more sturdy stand and a couple of other improvements. Picked mine up at TSC. It's not much more if you buy the floor model
