Default K-series: intake manifold tests - 2672cc vs simple build K24 (2381cc)

We were curious what the new intake manifold would do on the 2672cc motor without changing anything. Same 75mm TB on the new intake manifold ran with the same non-optimized IPS-K2 calibration for the displacement. What you're seeing here is a direct comparison on the same dyno isolating the two bottom ends. We ran out of time to test the 105mm TB, perhaps after SEMA.

This is a direct comparison between the new intake manifold against the street 54mm ITB's on the 2672cc motor. We haven't been able to tune the 2672cc motor with drag style 54mm ITB's yet. Cams have been the IPS-K2's for all the recent tests.

Finally, this last graph isolates the new intake manifold against the previous manifold with stock TB on the 2672cc motor.

edit : One additional chart at Black R's request, for a delta comparison on the simple build K24 between manifolds.

Damn that is a lot of torque... Wheelspin galore. Thanks again Ron. IPS

looks like you need to move up your vtec point to 5200 rpm.. But really nice gains..

Yes, on a Hayward "street" manifold for the K-series.

We didn't tune the lowspeed lobes in the normal, tedious K-series fashion. Actually, we didn't tune at all! This test was just a manifold swap using a basemap calibration for the cams on a different motor.

Ron , loan me those throttles and horns for a day I have my own manifold....

I'll do some more pistons for you for the loan

nice

edo a quick question...when are you guys going to test your ips-k2 in a k20a?.all your dynos are in a k20a2...i know they were designed around the k20a2..but i wonder what they will do in a k20a..since results a very good in the k20a2...

Interesting.... I wanna see this thing tuned with the 54mm ITB's and the manifold and the manifold with the 105mm TB.... Shouldnt be to hard to do, should it?

Thanks for posting your results

Not hard, just no time right now. We're building several SEMA vehicles right now.

I can't tell which motor is being dyno'd in the graphs, nor which setup is yielding the greater delta... can you please elaborate?

nice the manifold made more power then the ITBs if i'm reading this right, can't wait to see what the 105mm throttle body can do.

This is what you can expect from a K20A with similarly equipped bolt-ons. It's a K20A2 graph, but using a thinner gasket which approximates the native 11.5cr found with the JDM K20A.

We have a few guys that run the cams in K20A's but haven't provided any feedback or dynos to date.

You're in luck Tbone, I just so happen to have an extra set of 54mm Jenvey's:

2 sets single injector
1 set dual injector

As soon as I receive the dual injector setup, I can send the extra set out. The other set is already on a SEMA car. I take it, this will be used for the 300whp B-series project?

RON YOU ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was actually thinking to try them on the current car for a dyno session. No matter what I change right now weather it be cams or tuning , the power wont go up and the graph curve's stays the same.. I feel that I'm just at max for my 48mm plates now . I'd like to try them out.. If theres an improvement now then I'll def just buy new ones. If not then if you have them available when I dyno the 300 attempt , I'd love to try them again.. I dont want to over extend the favor though so I'll do whatever you can...
I'm glad the last few weeks alot of us here have been giving parts to try or just plain have for testing or misfortunes(see DH racing thread) If the few of us that are doing all this testing can build a trust level and maintain the utmost quality controll when it comes to borrowing parts, we will have a good network for doing some insane tests.
