97 Accord CD player dead
The in dash CD stereo in my 97 Accord recently "died". It will not turn on/off. When I start the car the stereo flashes different pieces of the digital display and also has a ticking sound (about a second in between - almost like a heartbeat). Any button pushing results in absolutely no reaction. There is a CD in the player that I now cannot retrieve. Has anyone heard of this before? Is it completely dead? It's not asking for a code (which I have) or anything. Thx.
Now is about the time you start rumaging thru the Crutchfield Catalog to pick out you're next Audio Entertainment Unit.
Without getting into a deep discussion about the inner workings of the now dead paperweight in your dashboard, i'd like you to take this to heart.
It's going to cost you WAY more to fix that OEM chassis, than it would be to purchase a Kenwood, an Alpine or maybe even a Blaupunkt.
It is NOT an issue about power to the chassis (uses one (1) fuse, it's internal.
