Quote from the Univ. of Minnesota

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by UMN &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Currently under development are plans for OBDIII, which would
take OBDII a step further by adding telemetry. Using miniature
radio transponder technology similar to that which is already
being used for automatic electronic toll collection systems, an
OBDIII-equipped vehicle would be able to report emissions
problems directly to a regulatory agency
. The transponder would
communicate the vehicle VIN number and any diagnostic codes that
were present. The system could be set up to automatically report
an emissions problem via a cellular or satellite link the instant
the MIL light comes on, or to answer a query from a cellular,
satellite or roadside signal as to its current emissions
performance status.

I've got a GeniSys OTC diagnostic computer that CURRENTLY supports OBD-II/III and the CAN communications protocols.

As far as I know, some aspects of OBD-III are currently employed in US made vehciles. In fact, I thought that some of them were OBD-III.

On the Honda, I guess the 06 Civic is OBD-IIc or something then?

Does anyone work at a dealer, or know someone that can check?

If it's OBD-IIx, then the tool I have will scan and report the car's operational status and all of the sensor information.

If I knew where to the diagnostic plug was?

Thanks guys.
