If you're in the area and have some time to kill, stop by PIR to witness the 8 hours of the Cascades. Look for a red Porsche 944 and a red Porsche 968. That's us. (not sure what the car number assignments are yet).
The start is at Noon with a "LeMans style" start where the drivers run across grid to their cars. Should be interesting.

but not the first stint drivers because that would be scary to see people boning out of the hot pits with their harnesses half on and junk.
Been there, done that on the ICSCC LeMans enduro starts. I honestly don't think that anyone is actually that stoopid. We certainly never were and we were first off the line in at least two of them way back when. But then, we had LM-spec Luke harnesses in the car, that had the shoulders sewn to the laps - click, click, cinch, cinch, and off you go.

Hmm, a teacher at the school i work at told me her husband was going to be down there with his E30. I'd go but i'm going to be standing at some corner at PR for the Alfa club HPDE.
Have fun!

EMRA does a modified lemans start; the 1st driver is in the car, strapped in, ready to go. there is a separate runner that sprints to the car and thumps the rear quarter panel. when the car is thumped, the driver can go!

Each car has a pit marshall watching over the start and all stops. The team is disqualified from the event if a driver takes off with any of the belts undone. Besides it is just plain stupid.

Today is CSCC driver training and test & tune for Enduro teams. Should be a pretty full house.
I'll try to take some pictures Saturday.

Nope. It's free. Full access accept for the hot pits.

Well, I came out with a buddy and my gf to watch, and had an AWESOME time! Watched the race for about 4 hours from almost every possible vantage point and even got into the pits, though not too much was happening there. All in all a very cool day watching racing!

I was working with the 968, and we ran flawlessly start to finish, and completed 317 laps. We finished 5th overall and 4th in the P1 (big bore) class. A new Porsche Cup car won the race.

Congrats to the 968 team. Jim crew chiefed a great race even if the camber settings were off slightly.
The 944 just never ran right from the time it rolled off the trailer Friday morning. There is a mysterious fuel starvation problem that we could not solve no matter what was checked, changed, reassembled, etc. We only covered 32 laps in 8 hours.
But...we looked fast. I'll bet Johng or Jim have a pic somewhere.
Rick
PS- Nice ride Crescent. Can the neighborhood handle yet another auto?

Yeah, unfortunately it was a long, frustrating day. We failed sound in the first morning practice and missed the next two sessions trying to get the exhaust re-configured. A few laps after the start, the car was fuel-starving and we dealt with that the rest of the day.
Blew fuel pump fuse- send the car out - same problem
Blew another fuse & rewire the pump - send the car out - same problem
Replace the fuel filter - send the car out - same problem
Tear into the brand new fuel cell, relocate the in-tank pump, replace the factory pump, deal with leaks and a broken cell bracket - send the car out - same problem
We worked really hard trying everything possible to get it running right, but just couldn't make it happen. At the 7th hour, Hal decided to pull the plug and park the car on pit wall and sent it back out to at least take the checker at 8:00pm. The team never gave up until the end.
