Default Sport FWD & RWD and Street Stock class payouts increased at Nitto World Finals

NHRA has just announced that the Urbanracer.com Sport FWD, Sport RWD and BFGoodrich Tires Street Stock classes at the Nitto NHRA SC World Finals will pay down to the quarterfinals if each respective class has a full 16 car field.

The normal payout is $500 to win and $100 for runner-up. NHRA will now payout $75 for both Semifinal finishers and $65 for the four quarterfinalists with a full field of 16 cars.

Total payout for each class will be $1010, if each class has full 16-car fields.

This payout will be in addition to the Urbanracer.com bonus payout for running the Urbanracer.com sticker in the Sport FWD class. Winner will receive an additional $250, runner-up will receive $150 and each semifinalist will receive an additional $50 from Urbanracer.com if you run the decal. Decal will be available at the NHRA Sport Compact event trailer in the staging lanes at Pomona Raceway.

Thanks,
Gary Raasch

Oh wow! A note to Californians, embrace this race while you can. At least you guys have a race to attend. I'll be at Pomona too...

Not gonna happen. I wouldnt want that actually. It'll just push more people away, It'll just be a small handful who can afford to travel to many races.

And what difference would that make to the people that only turn out to there local races?

Buy making it a points class, maby more people will be willing to run more than one race. Also if it is a championship event, the SFWD an SRWD races might even be televised.

I have always said that would be nice. Anyone who is a member of NHRA gets the National Dragster. There are 7 different divisions for NHRA drivers to race and earn points. They are divided by regions. Who knows you start combining something with other santioning bodies for the SFWD/SRWD guys to earn those points along with the PRO guys, then you can do somehting similar to what they do in Chicago with a REAL BIG National Race smack dab in the middle of everyone. Now that would be something.

Damn how tight will security be around you? Better get there early for the autograph line.

The weight thing on street stock sucks! hehe.
I wanna run it but weight restrictions limits what cars can run the class.

My car isn't ready either....

Why does it suck?

If you never intended to run the class, then nothing sucks about its rules.

I want to run the class, I want to run a class in NHRA but always stuck in brackets(which is ok) but i'd like to compete in a heads up style like IDRC Pro AM.
But considering the car is a full interior CRX its still at about 2000lbs with the driver.
The minimum weight is 2350 lbs. That means I'd have to add 350lbs to the car? Thats insane. lol I cant even think of making 350lbs in ballast to add to the car. thats more than a complete Weight set from the Sportsmart(is that place still even around?). haha. Imagine that much weight added in the car.

Oh and the setup is an all motor SOHC non-vtec.

CRX w/ added 350lbs + DOT Tires + SOHC Non VTEC D16 = not competitive at all.

CRX 2000lbs + DOT Tires + SOHC Non VTEC D16 = competitive with other cars in the class.

I guess I could just go out there and expect to not be competitive, but the weight thing is just annoying. I mean 100lbs to add is ok, but 350lbs. Thats borderline dangerous to be adding weights like that in a CRX.

if you wanna run, you gotta play by the rules.

at least you can put that weight wherever you want to... that can be a huge advantage!!
