i left my hood open and windows down and it got rained in the motor and interior, it sounds like its missing.

 

So what exactly does this sound sound like? Sputtering? Bogging? Is it a knocking sound? Popping sound? Clicking sound?

Does your car throw any check engine light codes? You have to be more specific. Just leaving your hood/windows open in the rain won't harm anything. It might make your interior smell bad, that's about it. The engine bay gets wet every time you drive in the rain/go through a puddle.

ok i figured it out, water got into the dist. cap. Another weird thing is my car overheat sumtimes, when i open the hood the water in the coolant resevoir is boiling. what could cause that?
