Default Question about tire size on my 2002 Civic EX

Hey guys,

I have a questions about the tires on my car. I drive a 2002 Honda Civic EX ( no alloy wheels) and my owners manual says the recommended tire size for my car is P185/65R15 86H . But theres one problem : the tires that came on my car are Dunlop P195/60R15 87H, and I just replaced the front two with (no P) 195/60R15 88H no name tires. I always new something looked different about my car compared to other 02 EX's, now I know the tires are bigger. My question is, should I be worried about this difference in tire size compared to what the manufacturer recommends? I mean will it cause the tire to blow out easier, or cause me to lose control more? Does it affect the gas mileage?

Wierd... my parents bought a 01 Civic EX and the door jam says 185 but it also came with 195 tires. We did buy it certified pre-owned though. Did yours come with 195 brand new from the factory or was it pre-owned?

A 185/65/15 and a 195/60/15 are close to being the same size (height). The 195/60 has a sidewall that is 0.1" shorter.

The 195 will be a wider tire than the 185.

The later Civics all came with a 195/60/15.

There is no reason to worry, and really the 195 is a better sized tire for the car.

Ok, thanks for responding guys. I was just a little worried because I recently got a flat tire and didnt know if the tire size had anything to do with it. And yeah, I bought my car used. Not sure, but I dont think they were the original tires.
