Nope. It will fit, but the 90-91 doors have a bit more reinforcement in them to make them safer when impacted from the side.

I looked at pics and the 89 si door looks the same on the outside as my 91 hf door.

The center molding on the older cars is bigger. And the newer ones had the door mounted seatbelts and impact beams like someone said already. So yeah it will bold up but your trim will look different.

Actually the center molding (next to the window) is bigger on the olde CRX 88-89. But the older CRX had the door mount belts, newer 90-91 had the pillar mount belts.

88 SI/DX/HF has PILLAR mounted belts

89 HF has PILLAR mounted belts

89 DX/SI has DOOR mounted belts

90-91 DX/SI/HF has DOOR mounted belts

I have an 88 SI, door mounted belts. Another 2 locals here has a 91 Si's, pillar mounted belt.
I know the trim, or door sash, as it is called by Honda is different because I had to order the driver door sash, and they sent me a 91, that was about an inch too narrow.

So I can only assume that the CRX's here are apparently acceptions to what you just stated as facts . Search for a pic of my car, you see the belts plane as day. Not debating here, stating what I can go outside and look at as a fact. I don't own every trim, but that is how the Si's Ive seen and worked on here have been

here's the deal

buddy has 88 hf... pillar mounted

other buddy has 89 dx door mounted used to have an 88hf pillar mounted

i own an 89dx and a 90si both door mounted.. I had an 88 si parts car grabbed the doors from it and did the pillar mounted belt conversion to my 89dx.

other buddy had an 89si door mounted belts

other buddy had a 91 hf door mounted.

I have not seen any exceptions to the rule yet, i'm not saying its possible but I've seen TONS of crxs in the junkyards as well and still no exceptions.

also door sashes on door mounted belt cars are wider

door sashes on pillar mounted cars are narrow

So if the car I have and the car I am getting the door from both have door mounted belts then they should be identical?

88-89 vs 90-91 have different trims going across the door i believe.

I would be able to confirm that because my 90si has an 89si pass side door right now but the car is at my buddy's house

i'm pretty sure they are the same though.

autoworks:

are you from the usa? are those the original doors? I've never seen that. either way your car looks incredible thats exactly what I want my 90 to look like minus the red moldings and stuff. I wanna keep what fast factory black.. black.

*edit your from down south ok. so maybe late 88 si's had door mounted belts as in like 88 si's made after june.

and here's something wierd too! My 89 dx has 88si doors (pillar mounted belt converison.. pain in the *** not worth it) but they don't fit right! So it must be that you have a late 88si.

Thanks
Yeah, Alabama, the car was bought locally new, and has only been registered in AL.
I bought it from an old lady that bought it new for her son...who blew the motor up. Anyway, I have never paid much attention to the actual door trim, other than the fact that the SiR can come with the pimp red stripe.
