Default 2006 civic coupe ex?

Hello Everyone,
I am about to purchase a 2006 ex and I was wondering about your thoughts about the car or if you own one and how you feel about it, I am young and this is a big step to be buying and new car i want to make sure i am getting the right car, I am over all satisfied with it after test driving it, but i need other opinions.
thank you.

Coupe looks great especially in Black... But I personally would like a White Sedan, the car looks so sexy... May I ask why you don't want the Si, since your getting the ex coupe, it should only be a few grand more for the Si..

I have owned a 93 Coupe for 13 years and recently test drove a new EX Coupe (no LX's in stock) and can honestly say that if it weren't for the extra weight (due mostly to convenience and safety items) the new car would handily beat the 5th and 6th gen cars at an autocross.

If you are just looking for a street ride, the Si is probably a better deal for a couple grand more. However, if you autocross, an LX Coupe may be a great sleeper in HS because the Si will be going against the ITR ans 330 BMW's where it will get beaten (all three have LSD's and the ITR is still 400# lighter with similar power output).

Trust me, I've got my mind made up. An '06 LX Coupe.

well the cars are just coming out (and Si isnt out yet) so give it a little while for some parts to show up.

Just give it a little bit more time, it didnt take that long for the aftermarket companies to come up with parts for the Scion family.. And I'm willing to bet most companies already working on their plans made out for the Si..It's just a matter of small time..

have you driven the car extensively? not just a quick test-drive...but a good 30 minutes or so?

i drove one the other night and did not care for the sitting position, dashboard and electronic throttle. i didn't like sitting so far back from the cowl and the two-tier dash with huge vents...i'm a bit OCD, but i like something that flows and is balanced. the electronic throttle made me feel like a noob shifting(the throttle doesn't really cut out when you let off the accelerator to shift gears and the car bucks when you release the clutch...feels like i never took my foot off the gas). otherwise, excellent car. great seats, ergonomics, stereo, handling, power delivery, etc....felt like a small accord. honda did set the bar higher for compacts, once again.
i'm just used to having a better view of the road, it's why i prefer my DA and the MB's in the family. and why i'll get an RSX over an Si next.
if the things that bothered me aren't a worry for you, you'll definitely be happy with the car for a long time. it looks great, has decent backseat room and trunk room and gets 38-40mpg with more power than my b18 with about the same weight. it feels like a solid car that would make it through a crash(safety is always important).

they had them at the dealer when i drove by the other night, i thought...oh what the hell... an ex coupe was priced at $18.2k(manual, no nav). this was a no-haggle type of dealer, very reputable and nice. i'm sure that is invoice with their advert. fees, transportation and such.

Yeah,

I've driven it over 1000 miles so far...

It drives well, the interior doesn't bother me in the least, and it's comfortable for long trips. (I've done several 250 mile non-stop trips.)

Get used to the idea of electronic throttle, brakes, and steering... as Honda is moving in that direction in general. Even their sports cars are going to see those changes.

The Civic EX is a sedan, it doesn't have the ball my H22A powered 98 Prelude does, nor does it handle as solidly. But hey, it wasn't meant to be going 100MPH, or corner sharp turns at 60-90MPH...

...it's an everyday car and should be considered as an inexpensive, fully loaded, substitue for more expensive vehicles that really are not worth the extra $$$.

I've no idea how the 06 Civic SI is going to do... I suspect it'll be a fun car, provided they stiffen the supension a little.
