Default CRACKED HEATER CONTROL UNIT FIXED @@@READ@@@

obd0 > obd1 conversion wiring for heater controlobd0 > obd1

OBD1> OBD0
blu/wht > blu/wht
yel > yel
yel/blu > yel/blu
blk > blk
grn/red > grn/red
grn/wht > grn/wht #5
yel/red > yel/red
grn/yel > grn/wht #3
red/blk > red/blk
red > red
blu/red > blu/red
grn > grn
blk/yel > blk/yel

the two grn/wht wires marked with numbers those are telling you which grn/wht wires go where. start with (grn/yel > grn/wht #3) that wire goes to the only grn/yel on the obd1 plug. the (grn/wht > grn/wht #5) goes to the only grn/wht wire on obd1 plug. the #3 and #5 is correspondant with the obd0 plug. with the connector turned around so the wires are coming out at you, count 3 over and then 5 and you have both of your grn/wht wires.

any questions just email me or pm me krazieplay@aim.com

thanks

I'm a little confused... Did you replace your cracked unit with an EG obdI heater control unit? If so, Very clever! If not, I guess I'm an ***

But please post pics

yes the unit was replaced with an obd1 heater control out of a 1994 honda civic coupe.

cable driven temp control is similar to the EF control, its opperated by two cables, one going to the bottom of the heater core, and the other one leading to the heater control valve. the only difference was that on the bottom of the EG unit the cables were designed to go in different directions, but with the cables on your crx you have enough play to manuver the cables to work in a similar way. Let me get pics when there is more light

i'm sensing a run on black EG panels. there aren't any tabs to hold it to the console, and the corners are a bit rounded, but it looks basically the same shape. i can't wait to see pics of it in the car.

this **** cracks on me just trying to unplug the damn thing!
VS

these are the two plugs you cut off your 88-91 harness. they have all the wires needed for the conversion(13 wires)

wiring the new plug with the old wiring from your EF. the wires are 99.5 percent the same with exception of that one grn/yel wire on the obd1 side (look at the wiring schmatic in the first post)

the new green plug (you should have grabbed when you got the heater control)goes here

this is the spot where the plug that you should have NOT cut goes, its the same plug-in for 88-94, possibly obd2 as well??

the control wires that control when its supposed to be hot and not, well the arrows indicate where the wires SLIDE into. not pushed in or anything else. you might break it if you do that!

from factory there are two holes(not human related) and designated areas are labeled.

far away installed picture of how it looks sitting in console. the console is from 91 hatchback and i have the dash and console in my CRX. it does fit the same in the CRX console!

close view showing that it fits with very little gap in between. it fits so snug i am not in need of a bracket of any sort, but i plan on fabricating one to fit in the future. not right now though it fits perfectly snug.

if you have any questions just PM me or email me which ever way is eaziest!

kase

Pics need some help (or a flash) but very nice work. Makes you wonder what else will work in there. It's amazing all the stuff that interchages in these cars. Sure it's a by-product of simplistic design, but even so... Honda rules.

sweet. from poking around on ebay, it looks like we can rule out anything from an integra or EG. the trick is finding a black EG piece.

if someone has a 90-93 accord EX piece, i'd be interested to see if that would fit:

I've seen it done, but I posted a while back asking for a writeup/howto and never got any. Maybe someone can chime in this time.

alright it took me a whole 2hrs but here is the diagram for crx to accord heater control. if you got questions or comments let me know!

this is the main plug. the heater control motors are different. the difference maybe because the motor(we love bigger engines) may move quicker to be able to change the different positions you want the air to blow faster...(un-confirmed statement)

this one shows that #4 isnt used at all and #8 is completely taken out. the reason for this is because the resistor; #8 uses, is for accord, you would have to get the resistor off the accord in order to use it. Therefore using the CRX one would work just fine, all you would have to do is eliminate that wire. from the plug. your all set. Let me know what you guys think!

That one from the accord is expletive'n nice!
I'm gonna head to the Accord forum and see if they tend to crack in Accords.

Hopefully there weren't be a shortage of the climate controls too.
