what is the best way to clean it and what degreser

 

Iv heard Simple Green and Gunk are good engine and engine bay cleaners

 

hot water and degreser, don't forget to cover your sensors.

 

Steam it! -- Engine brite for the metal, and get 'stoner trim shine' for the plastic parts!!

 

I use nothing but simple green and it really works well!!

especially the dizzy, i went through 4 before i realized what i was doing wrong

 

I use simple green. Let it soak in for a good twenty minutes or so, then scrub it to loosen any stubborn dirt and then I use a pressure washer. Make sure the battery is disconnected and don't try to start the car until the engine bay has completely dried.

 

There is a really good thread on here somewhere... too lazy to look it up right now. It's easier just to explain what I do when I detail.

I personally use some mutipurpose cleaner diluted 30:1 because I buy a 5 gallon jug and it lasts me forever and it's strong as ****. I spray it on the engine bay and anything that is covered with grime/dirt. SPRAY IT ON WHILE IT's DRY! This helps beause it keeps the solution from getting diluted by more water. Then I hit it with my power washer. For a really dirty engine bay I spray it again with some MP cleaner but before I rinse the bay again I scrub it down with an assortment of brushes (toothbrushes work good!) and rags and whatever I can find that would help to clean.

Don't forget to cover up any electrical stuff.

I've heard of people using steam cleaners and I would like to try one to see how it compares/ how much easier it makes the job.

If I feel like it I spray some kind of silicone dressing on all the plastics and some belt dressing on the belt to keep it from squeaking (sometimes this happens after you remove a lot of grime and dirt).
