I got orange peel and Fish eye on my paint job, can that be fixed with wet sanding?
My friend who has a paint shop painted my car, and now on one of the doors and a little on the quarter panel has fish eye. And on the other side, by where the old molding holes that were filled up has orange peel, could that both be fixed with wet sanding? He said it could, is he bullshitting me? Also on the back of the hatch theres a dent. How do dents normally get fixed at body shops? Is there a quick way to get that out without having to get it painted again or whatever? Some ******* at his shop did that by accident and now i noticed it.

as long as the dood put many many coats of clearcoat on the paint..you will be able to wetsand it to a glasslike finish
Yea he clear coated it like 4 layers. Is that enough to get through the orange peel and the fish eye?
What kinda crappy shop is this? I would be fired if I sent out crap like that.
Solvent pop(fisheyes) can sometimes be sanded out depending how bad they are and ornge peel can be sanded out if there is enough clear.
And the dent could be fixed with pdr work(paintless) if its not creased or really crunched.

What is PDR work? Yea hes my friend so im lettting it slide, gonna give him a chance to redeem himself.
are you sure your paint has fish eye? fish eye is when the surface is poorly prepped and the base coat starts to bubble up and dries looking wrinkled. and as for the orange peel, it depends on how bad it is cause if its really bad, you're going to knock down about 2-3 coats of clear leaving only 1 on there.
Well if thats fish eye i dont think i have that. What i have is like when looking at the clear you see dots that look like the point inward... you know what i mean?

if the fish eye is bad it may look worse when you wetsand it. have them repaint it
i thought fish eye was when water gets in the air lines and spray out with the clear. then when the clear coat dries, the water droplet dries as well, leaving a circle indention.
fisheye is caused by silicone contamination, and silicone only.
solvent pop and fish eye are NOT the same thing.
-solvent pop is when the top layer of material dries before the bottom layer. When the solvents evaporate out of the paint, you get 'solvent pop.'
Fisheye CAN be repaired without sanding if it occurs in your FIRST coat of base. If fisheyes occur in any other stage, the finish must be sanded and reapplied.
-some paint manufactures have a 'fisheye eliminator' but I have no experience in that and can't say if it works or not.
orange peel can be fixed by wetsanding. (or by DA if you know what you are doing)
then a nice buff and polish.[b] careful not to burn through the clear, or you will be refinishing the panel again.
GOOD LUCK

So what the guy above your last post said, is fisheye? Water got mixed with the clear? And caused that?
Damn if he gots to paint the whole qt. panel and door again would he have to paint the whole car again? Or can he blend it out? Damn i got my rear window knocked out and put back in just to make sure the paint job was going to be nice and OEM like.

Ok just to clarify, is what this guy is talking about fish eye or something else? If it isnt what is it called.
And second question, what this guy describes, is a repaint going to be needed to fix it? Or will wetsanding do it?

fish eyes could be water sprayed out with the paint or any oils or anything left on the painted surface that do not allow the paint to bond to the surface
