most horsepower made on GSR motor?
sorry if this has been asked before but i tried using search and had no luck with it. my question is whats the most whp that can be made on a naturally aspirated GSR motor for street use? and for the price of the parts would it just be in my better interests to turbo it? any input would be greatly appreciated.

ehhh 250.....but that's with lots of work done....you can go to 300 but that's wayyyyy pushing it......
I was gonna do something like that but changed my mind. You can run 250 on a K20 easily.
As for turbo, that's what I'd do........safest would be 275 depending on ur motor although a lot of people say 300 should be fine for a stock motor.....

Unless you run race gas, you couldn't get the comp. ratio high enough to make outrageous power. When built right, with proper tuning, I have seen N/A GS-R motors putting out around 200-215 WHP on pump gas. They are street-able, but not like a Turbo car at the same power level. If you want to go N/A, plan all of your parts carefully, research, and get a good shop to tune everything.

thanks everyone.
there was/is no real reason in particular to run NA, it was just one of my ideas. . . im still in the developmental stages of an idea so i cant do too much other than map out my plan until i can get a decent foundation to work with. from what ive seen a dart set up, which will run in excess of $13000, can make 350+ NA hp (i could be wrong though) but i certianly dont have that much money or desire to spend that much for so little, as well as the fact that i couldnt run that on the street (im also a big muscle car fan so when seeing a $13000 price tag for a motor i tend to think of the 572). my goal is to get an older civic hatch or crx, im partial to the 88-91 for some reason, and for the money i figured a B series motor would be my best bet and that the integra owners would be my best resource. i was just wondering about how much i could make and if itd be worth it. i figured a turbo would be the best way to go and it looks like i was right, but most turbo kits ive seen have an initial cost of $2500+ and i dont know what would be involved to set up a turbo b18 in a civic of that age. (i didnt want to end up buying a complete kit to find out i have to scrap all the tubing.) the k20 was my kneejerk reaction when i started the idea but i cant find the motor, tranny, and wiring harness for less than $5500 not to mention that the engine mounts alone all seem to be in the $700 range and that still leaves me with the cost of shafts. id search the salvage yards where i am but its basically an exercise in futility since they dont stock imports. so im basically stuck with getting one thats been imported or driving a very long distance to obtain the motor of choice.
as far as overall cost i dont want it to be that high. the primary purpose of it, for me, is to be a budget build and have it done right. after fast and the furious came out swarms of teens here swiped up any FF car they could (a lot of saturns, surprisingly) added a massive wing and think its a race car. being tired of that i want to try doing it correctly, cleanly, and having a little fun in the process.

ok then get a chassis of ur choice, in a color u wont mind, swap a good old b18b an boost it. best option if budget is ur main concern. or if u would prefer some good old vtec perhaps a h-series would be a decent option.
wouldnt it be better to turbo a b18c from a GSR? if it is thats great because ive found quite a few for under $3500. i contemplated going with an h22 but theres no motor mounts or driveshafts for the conversion into an 88-91 civic/crx and i dont kno if id even have enough room to turbo that inside a 92-95 hatch. thanks for your input though.
hasport does make mounts for you to put an h22 into a crx.....they did it in honda tuning i believe and with a 75 shot via nitrous express put down 215 i believe.....not bad for a very small car......
ive been using their site (hasport) almost religiously to see what combos i can do and they dont have anything for an h22 into a 88-91 civic/crx listed on their site. enjo has a listing for h22 engine mounts into a 88-91 civic/crx but no price listed. . . if they arent too much more than ones for a b18 i might go for that since i can get the h22 for a bit less than the b18c. but can the h22 make the horsepower as easily as the b18c? forced induction seems to be the way to go with these engines but will a turbo kit for an h22, or b18c for that matter, fit in a 88-91 civic/crx?
i remember reading an article about a civic making 650hp once, but it was the 96-00 body style w/ a b18 i believe. while i dont want to hit numbers that extreme id like to eventually, over a prolonged period of time - but if the budget allows, build it in the ballpark of 400hp.
im also confused as to what the difference between the cable and hydraulic transmissions are. everything ive found on google searches are just talking about which version fits in what car better.

ive got a 94 4dr gizzer pushing about 275 NA, it cost a pretty penny, but if you want to go NA its worth it. Stripped the b1,preplaced everything, balanced, port&polish, intake, stage2 dinan ecu, offset racing stripe (extra 15 hp) heh. fully tuned 3in exhaust, short throw, lsd tranny.....i think thats about it.
blah waist of money just go turbo
street meaning pump gas i should say 225-250 would be max on 91 octane. any higher you will need to run outrageious high compression and race gas only.
with turbo you can easly make $400+whp on 91 octane and almost anything with race gas. i have seen 800+whp
i would also like to add that i have a built 200whp lsvtec all motor and i'll be the first one to tell you that its slow and its a waist of money

about how much money would i be looking at spending to build a turbocharged b18 or h22 and get it into the 400hp range?

I kinda agree with this guy. 300 all motor is a tall order to fill... sheesh even 280. Going all motor is expensive, if you want to be real fast.
I've got a 98 gsr, and I'm pushin 200 to the wheels. Its ok, i like it... but i want to be faster. But IMO, my car is to heavy. I want to put my motor in a CRX or a lighter car(if I can find one), but I doubt that I will do that.
Im eventually going over the dark side.
