My 91 Honda Accord LX will not shift out of the Park position. I have to use the shift release. I recently re-did the valve gasket, new sparkplugs and their wires, new ignition coil, new rotor, new distributer cap, and had the main relay (fuel injection), and the cruse control unit out and un-plugged. After I put all of this back togather I could not shift out of park. Once i used the Shift release it drove fine and shifted into the other gears fine.

Check and make sure you didn't disturb the stop light switch wiring plug. It does double duty by not only working the Stop Lights, but activates the shift release solenoid.
I'd start looking there first
