Honda Challenge as a support race for Rolex @ VIR 2006?
After seeing a pretty boring PCA race last weekend in support of the Rolex series at VIR...I spoke with a VIR official about next year's Rolex date of April 21 - 23, and the Grand-am date of Oct 6-8. I quized her about support races for either event and asked if they'd consider a Honda Challenge sprint race? Her reply "How many cars can you bring?"
So boys....if we could get 25 - 30 cars from the East coast we might be considered for a support race. Who's interested?
Parker, are you ready to get owned by an old man in front of 30,000 fans?
If there's enough interest, I'll get Cobetto and VIR together on it.

I'd field an entry. I'm not sure if me or someone else driving, and in what car, but tentatively mark me down.
I also echo Todd's comments about entry fees and whatnot.

I'll be there for sure also. The costs shouldn't be any different. I ran a WKA race in a 125 shifter at Barber when it first opened. It was an opening race for Rolex, and the entry fees were normal. Especially if we show up with 30 cars.

At least that'd make for some good TV after what happened earlier this year. It'll attract the NASCAR audience.

What's the advantage of running in a support race? Didn't the PCA club have to race at 9am each day? The way I see it, you're treated as second class racers (not that you're not
)
I'm just wondering as me and my car should be ready early next year. Just front half of the cage and a few more safety items to get and I'll be joining you guys.

The biggest advantage would be the use of the senior series to get publicity for the support series, and perhaps get some of the better HC drivers some attention from bigger teams.

From what I saw the last race weekend, I'm not sure you can out drink Corey anymore.
If you're lucky, though, you have smaller hangovers.

You are not going to get TV coverage and you are not going to even get a mention during the broadcast of the big show unless you bring serious money. Product placement isn't free. I've been to Barber the past two years for the shifter support race...what a blast. I hope you guys can get a support race with them. It will do so much good for the sport and the racing series.
Good luck,
AJ

I'm sure Hondaworks will be there...what about those other guys with the little white ADS 1986 Honda CRX Si . They are a little....well you know but I bet they would be there.
I wouldn't think 25-30 cars should be to hard to find but I have been wrong before.

Do you also teach them how to avoid getting squeezed into the marbles while making a pass on someone who is traveling in a straight line? You should. It seems like a skill fewer and fewer drivers have these days.
