ls/vtec or gsr??

I know this is arguable but i just want to c what most of u all think
I have a 97 hx coupe that i want to put it in.

i had considered building an ls/vtec, but i went with a gsr and i'm glad, the ls isn't really made for high rpm, they're good of you build them right, but after all that, why not just get a gsr? reliability was really important to me. i just hate to spend all that money and have to worry about something happening.

LS/VTEC here, slightly higher displacement than GSR alone. Just as reliable (don't drive like an ***, besides you usually start losing power far up top) when properly built. LS blocks are easy to find and cheap, GSR is usually a whole different story.

The GSR will require a little more wiring if your running the stock manifold. And if you decide to go with a skunk 2 or something you would want the ECU chipped so it doesn't look for the IABs anymore.

personally i'd go for a GS-R but it depends what you're planning to do with the motor. if you plan to enter in some shows, i'd go with a B16A/B18c1 much cleaner and easier to maintain when done properly. if yo9u plan to gain some street cred. and win back some money hten go for an LS/VTEC. LS blocks have a much better torque curve than a GS-R block and when properly worked on (bore to at least 1.9 liters, high compression pistons, proper oil and fuel feed lines and holes drilled) if you do everything right you can win money like taking candy. off the launch...LS/VTEC's are extremely hard to beat when they are properly tuned and driven.

I say do the gsr swap but then go get some ITRcams kinda cost alot but make the car scream. my buddy did that to an old interga with the b17 gsr and it was real nice feeling after the cams went in.

i would say ls vtec. and for the price get a b16 tranny and sleeve and then get some new pistons, shot peen the rods. and u will probably been owning up some gsrs.

if done right the stock ls block and gsr head will own a gsr. I've seen on with no building just a oil line ran. in a gsr integra beat a s2000 i couldn't keep up to see how much but i know he won. plus later he put 75 shot on it and it had no probs. but i still say gsr it is more reliable motor is made the way it comes. not a custom build that can fail and leave u stranded

I like the ls/vtec, you can pair it up with a b16 tranny and forged internals for the price of a Gsr swap if you do the work yourself. Reliability is not an issue if you do not cut corners.
