Default New Sprocket

I put a new 15 tooth Renthal sprocket on the front the other day. I haven't had a chance to really ride it since i put it on. I know the speedo is going to be off for now
Well today I got out and wow is there a difference. At a normal spot where it goes from 35 to 55 i was accelerating and looked down and out of nowhere the bike said 77. There is so much more pick up than before. I love it.
For $40 this may be one of the best mods to do. I never really see myself needing to top out the MPH on the bike so the trade off is fine.

I got and Atlantic City trip coming up and as long as i don't lose everything I am going to pick up a Renthal 45 rear and speedo healer.

What was the stock sprocket size?

..and why would the speedo be off? Do they read mph from a place other than the front wheel on the newer models?

Yeah, it's all based off of the transmission now (for most bikes).

Ive had a renthal sprocket sitting at the dealer waiting for me to pick it up for about 2 weeks. This thread makes me wanna go get it. Will your 600 pick the wheel up easier now?

sprockets are cheap, great ways to add more oomph to your bike. I have -1 fr, +3 on my bike

Im planning to go -1/+2 on my 04 R6. The stock sporkets are 16/48 on the 04 R6. I also have to get the speedo healer when installing the new spockets cause it reads different when upgrading on aftermaket spockets.

how much does just -1 in the front throw off your mph and take out of your top end? i have a 954 and was thinking about gearing, but i like stock gearing although i have never had a geared bike.

I have -1 up front on my bike and it gets the front wheel up and it's an old *** bike. I have a -2 sprocket that I plan on putting on once I hit the track this summer but for now the -1 is juuuuuuust fine.

Your speedo should not be off that bad..

On my 750 i'm -1 and +12, and i'm only off about 17mph.

I've been thinking about going at least +1 in the rear, but the thing I dont like is it raises your revs. Does it bother you guys?

shouldn't you list at what mph you are off 17 or at least a percentange rather than an actual number?

for instance if you are going 2 mph the speedo isn't going to read 19, and if you're going 102 the speedo won't read 119.

on my bike the gearing changes make about a 10% difference. for example my speedo reads 80 but i am actually moving 72.

The revs are one thing i am noticing. I was cruising the other day and was in sixth. The bike sounded to high and i kept trying to go up another gear. I do about 70mph now at like 8k

Yeah that would bother me. I'm doing ~5000 @ 80 in 5th (no 6th) and it sounds like its too high, and thats stock gearing.
