My buddy was racing his 99 si a couple weeks ago with a 75 shot of nitrous from a Zex wet kit. His motor is all stock, he has all the basic bolt-ons, and he had colder spark plugs and retarded the ignition by 2 degrees as was recommended. On his 4th run something happened and his car started smoking and the engine was knocking like crazy! When he got the car home he pulled out the spark plugs and found that #2 was fried. He hasn't pulled off the head yet but he thinks that the #2 cylinder has some major damage to it. Fortunately his car is still under an extended warranty, but he's afraid to take it in. What do you guys think he should do? If he removes the nitrous kit and brings the car in will they be able to tell?

 

I am pretty sure the dealership will deny that one. Sounds like you spun a bearing at the very very least.

Yes, they will be able to tell. You don't melt pistons on a stock engine. LoL...

The dealership denied my claim because I didn't have all my oil changes documented. IE. Did them myself. Even though it was the oil pump on my Y8 that went bad and caused my engine to blow a rod through the block. Later on it was announced that Y8 oil pumps can sometimes go bad. When I replaced the engine with a Z6 I threw the oil pump that was bad through the dealerships managers driverside window and called it a day.

i know a bunch of people that spray on stock internals, no probs. maybe your buddy was just to fast?

 

He probably had something go wrong with the solenoid, or he has a little nitrous left over in the lines, so when he sprayed more than he thought he sprayed came out.
Thats the game you play with nos.
Get a b series longblock, they're cheap 600, and use that.

 

Honda definately won't cover it unless you have a hook up somewhere that works for honda

 

The car runs, but only on 3 cylinders since #2 is not firing. I think he's gonna rip out the nitrous kit and take it in and try to get it covered under the extended warranty. The car only has 60k miles, he had the 30k checkup and he has record of all oil changes. He was due for the 60k checkup before this, maybe they'll pin that on him if anything.

 

Even if you take the kit out I'm pretty darn sure they'll notice somethings out of place ... Honda engines don't usually screw up like that under normal conditions on pump gas with that low of a mileage.
