all wheel drive teggy with civic drivetrain??^^
alright all you civic fanatics.. i need some help here. trying to find out about all wheel drive for my integra. the civic wagon came with awd but had a d series motor i believe... anybody think it would be possible to swap the awd into my integra? teggy is a '91 DA... sexy little thing. i heard the civic awd isnt that strong tho. please help. i need input
everybody tells me that. i know it is tho. i need to find out if it fits. if it does, i will make it not weak
As far as it fitting it would take a lot of custom work.
Also you need to use the tranny for the awd. But that tranny happens to be d-series and wont bolt to your bseries block

weak in the sense that if you put much more than stock power through it you WILL grenade the tranny....
not weak in the sense its lame....
the CRV drivetrain is far stronger.

i had a buddy that put the CRV tranny and everything else in his DC integra... pulled the front axles out and now he uses it mainly as a drift car i believe... the DC chassis looks beautiful when getting sideways

its not really worth the money. i have a 91 civic si hatch and was all about the all wheel drive, that was until i fould out how shitty the tranny is built. im currently running a single vtec with a port and polished head along with a tdo4 turbo kit from greddy, thinking that would be all i need, but its not even enough. wont scratch 2 with falkens. my point is all i had to do was get the diff. and tranny from an awd civic and slap it on, thinking this set up of mine would be more than enough power, but i didnt cause the tranny wont hold up for nothing. plus its bred ( $$$ ) to try to beaf one of those trannys up, if ur just thinking about awd for street use, ur better doing a ls-vtec with a type-r tranny so u'll have limited slip, or better yet just a lsd kit. other wise ur going to have to swap a d series motor. and have fun doing that cause going from d to b is easy, but from b to d, finding parts, is a bitch !!!!

If you got cubic dollars burning a hole in your pocket and know good fabrication guys then anything is possible...but this is about as far as you can get from a plug and play modification.

i love custom fab.. thats why i want to do it.. for the hell of it.. but if its really that shitty of a job to do then ill just say expletive it.. ill do some more research here and there but for now ill stay with front drive. .. thanks for the info guys. if anyone hears of it being done nicely post something up on here about it-

If you got the time...and you got the money....and you have the fab skills, and not just think you do then go for it. can't be much harder than a rear engine delsol or Crx.
Dificulty is all a matter of perspective. Compared to an B series swap into a DPFI chassis I would give the engien swap a 1 on a scale of 1 to ten adn this swap a 10 on that same scale...
Some people have the skills and shop to pull it off...but not many.

the RARE and i mean RARE integra zxi came all wheel drive ...i remember reading about it a while back...i mean just find one of those....and im sure drivetrain fits with less custom work...but they stoped making it due to performance reasons
yeah.. i started a few threads in different forums and i keep getting the same answers... i was just wondering if it was the type of thing everyone says sucks but really might be sort of a simple concept. but im getting the hint, finally, that it really isnt worth the time ... i was only curious cuz it was a MAYBE project.. but screw that.. im not made entirely of money and the fabrication is most likely out of my skill range.. i know my **** but im pretty lazy.. lol thanks for the info tho . maybe some day i'll mess with it but for now im straight

Yep, for how much fabrication you have to do, I'd just go with CRV parts.
