Thermostat question
I have a 2000 Accord and it seems to warm up ok in the morning but it takes forever for the heater to get hot. It will get warm but takes 20 minutes of highway for it to get really hot. It hasn't even started to really get cold here yet (40-50's in the morning) and can forsee this being a problem. Anyone think this could be a thermostat?
Also where is the thermostat located on a 4 cyl VTEC?

same place as all honda accord except v6. if you look front the passenger fender, and looking at the distributer, it is coneecter to the lower radiator hose, if you follow it to the back of the motor the thermastat houseing is right there. hope this help. unhook the hose from the clamp with some pliers and carefully remove the hose anfd if i am corret its two 10mm or 12mm bolts holding the thermastat. remeber not to do this when engine is hot. hope this helps.
If your temp guage get to normal range quickly but the heater doesn't the problem is either the valve controlling the water through the heater core or their is a blockage in the heater core. I guess you could have a kinked heater hose, but that really a slim chance. If the temp guage takes more then 5 miles to reach normal temp then you have a bad t-stat.
