I have a 97 Accord SE 5th gen F22B2. Well i decided to take off my air resonator awhile back ago. At the time being I don't have a passenger fender lining because of my shocks bottomed out and it rubbed and flew off on the freeway. Rainy season is coming soon enough, should I be worried about water shooting into my air intake from my tires spraying the water? If it should be a concern of mine, what can I do? For some reason I get better gas mileage without the air resonator and I would like to keep my current settings the same. Should I go out and buy a fender lining?

 

dont worry about your engine as fas as water is soncerned. If you were to damage your engine by hydrolock you would have to submerge your filter box, wich means about 3 feet of water

As far as the fender lining, its main purpous is to prevent rocks and stuff from damaging your fender. I would put one back if I were you but you can still drive safely without it.

yes like with all intakes to hydrolock a motor u gotta completly submerge that sucker in my case a lil easier...my cold air goes wayyy down there

 

i dont have either front inner fenders, havent for about 4 years. i had one fly out when i was goin 70 mph, the shop i went to get my intake put one forgot to bolt something back up, since the air box was missing, the wind blew the thing out.

i havent had any problems with water or rocks or anything, it is quieter with the inner fenders. i sprayed some of that rubber spray in my fenders to take care of noise.
