Alpine Type-S Speakers on 02 accord coupe problem
Anyone ever tried to install Type-S 6.5" speakers on an 02 accord coupe? It seems to me like the speaker wont go all the way into that black Casing on the door because the magnet is too deep. Anyway to get around this without extreme modification of my door or loosing sound quality? If not, any other suggestions on speakers I can get that WILL fit my car perfectly? I drive an 02 Accord Coupe my system is 2 Type R subs v12 mono mrd-m605 amp and a pioneer head.
ok i am guessing that the factory speakers are 6.5" or somewhere close to that. My suggestion is that if you have a black piece that holds your factory speaker, just screw your new speaker into that. the holes may not match up but it isn't any big deal. other than that you will have to make your own bracket for the speaker to bring it out of the door some. that black bracket should bring it out enough so that it will fit and also be sure that when your window is down it doesn't hit the speaker.
Hack'em up with a dremel or a hand saw until the woofers fit, I installed at Magnolia Audio/Video and the OEM speakers are slim units.... You might want to swing by an install shop and get a couple of foam baffles to install before you place the speakers in. They're cheap, and easy to modify. Then at least you'll have some protection for the rear of the speaker....
if they are hitting the black bracket then what you can do is take the bracket out like maroonaccord2.2 said and drill out the back to make room.
