195/65/15's on a 97 LS?
Tire Rack recommends a 195/55/15 for the car, will it look fine / drive fine with the 65's on it?
They are on a 96 civic lx sedan right now, and tire rack recommends the same (55) for it, he says it's fine.
Thanks,
Kyle

you guys keep saying it but the question wasn't "what size tires should i buy?" it was "i'm buying these rims with these tires; will they fit?". the answer is "yes." it won't look as nice as slimmer tires, but it will work just fine as long as his car isn't lowered too much.

you're not understanding, sir. just because the stock 15" tire size is 195/55R15 or 205/50R15 doesn't mean a different tire won't fit on the rim. many many different sizes will fit on the same 15" x 6" JJ +42mm rim, it's just that most of those sizes will cause your speedometer to read incorrectly. i myself use tire size and inflation pressure to very finely modulate the handling characteristics of the car. you'd be amazed how much you can transform even a stock car by changing the tire sizes a little and changing the tire pressures a little. YES, THEY WILL WORK. no, your speedometer won't read quite correctly. it will read a little lower than the speed you are actually travelling. so when a cop shows up go exactly the speed limit and you'll be fine. they usually don't pull you over for 5mph over the limit.

Will they fit? Probably if the car is not lowered at all. Is it a good thing to do? My answer is no, for several reasons.
- 65 series tires will have a VERY large sidewall (my mom's Avalon has 205/65-15 tires and they look like humongous balloon tires). It will look retarded, the car will ride higher, and there will be much less tire-to-fenderwell clearance (think of all the ghetto sleds on 22" and larger wheels and how ghey they look).
- 65 series tires will throw off the speedometer quite a bit, especially at highway speeds. Your actual speed will be higher than the indicated speed, which means you better watch out for speed traps and make sure the speedo shows 10 under the posted limit.
- Handling will be much worse than with stock size tires, due to the much larger tire sidewall.
IMHO it's not worth all those drawbacks to use those tires just because they come on the wheels you're trying to buy. Get tires that will fit the car properly and look right.
And if the car is lowered even a small amount, forget it altogether. There's no way a 65 series tire will fit under a lowered car.

if it's lowered an 1" and stiff it could work. 195's aren't very wide. and i'm not saying handling would be good or anything like that, i'm just saying he could easily run them for a while until he has money for other tires. heck, i run crappy tires on my daily driver. i don't really care if the sidewalls are larger and softer than normal. i don't thrash on the crap tires, enough said. just keep two sets and the daily set put used crap tires on. works for me

lol, I think I've decided to say screw that crap and just stick with the wheels that are on the car, the tires are still ******* wrong WHAT IS IT WITH HONDA OWNERS BUYING THE WRONG SIZE TIRE?!?!?!?

dayum what width are those wheels? I have the exact same wheels 16x7 and my 205/45 tires look about like that. Those 215's look kinda stretched. I would think 215's would bulge out on the sidewalls a bit more.
