Default Preventing theft - GPS Tracking

i dont publicize my personal **** much online anymore because of my status on here. but ive had a couple vehicles stolen from me.

im itching for another bike and found one i want.

looking into getting a pager alarm and hopefully some type of GPS tracking device.

ive seen a few online, but never know what would be good.

Has anyone had any experience with any, and which ones?

i believe there is now lojack for motorcycles. i'd stick with that. since apparently its proven and reliable. no firsthand experience though.

stop getting attention-***** toys and people will stop stealing them.

A garage and insurance is the best money that can be spent to protect against theft. If someone wants it bad enough, they're going to get it. A tracking system like lojack maybe get you the bike back but chances are you're not going to like the condition it's in when you get it.

GPS tracking isnt going to prevent theft, its only going to aid in recovery. So in the end, the bike still ends up getting stolen.

This is probably the best advice right here. Which is akin to recommending waiting til you grow up and move into a house.

well these gps systems supposely are triggered when the car moves from its original spot after armed. and will call your cell phone or text you etc.

storing it inside a garage is not an option while im at college, none of the apt complex here have garages. riding to campus is the main reason of buying another bike. parking on campus is nearly impossible without riding a bus in, unless you have a motorcycle.

By the time you get the call and get out there, chances are the bike is going to be gone. Most people that steal bikes are very good at it and will get it in under two minutes. Even if you did catch them, are you going to run out and confront them and fight? I mean honestly, you get outside and see three guys have lifted your bike into the back of a truck... what are you going to do? Short of being armed and risking getting shot yourself all you can really do is watch them drive off with your bike. When they realize it's bugged it gets pushed off the back of the truck and they continue on their merry way. Not trying to be a naysayer, just being serious about your options.

Everyone always says that but I seriously doubt it to be true. Not only does it take ***** to actually shoot a man like that, it's likely to end up with you in jail as a result (depending on state).

I've already shot like 4 people and they can't hold me down in jail. I'm bout it bout it.

Seriously though... I would at least shoot the tires out on the truck. That way there will be a nice trail for the police to follow.
