Default CRX Crash Test Rating!!!

Does anyone know how a crx would hold in a crash? Or know any ratings that were given to it? I know its a really light car so its not going to be too safe but I've heard mixed answers. Most of them say the car gets totaled but the driver is usually ok. I just want to know if I should get a roll cage put in when i get mine. It will probably be a track car and I don't want to take that thing on a roll. But I also don't want some jack *** to T-Bone me at in intersection either. Thanks

^ haha. This guy lived to post about his wreck. I remember reading they even put his car in the fatalities section of the junkyard or something:

I remember another one in SCC or one of those mags where the rex seperated into 2 parts at the firewall but the driver was ok. Hell I've even crashed mine a few years ago and both the car and me are still here. Most ppl on here will tell you they're safe cars. I only have experience on the street tho..... You'll probably wanna do a rollcage for a track car

Yea, Ill probably get a cage even though I wont race it for a year or two...until I can get all the stuff I need for the built b18C5 with all crower parts. Im hoping 12's at the 1/4 and some fast circuit times. First track im going to is going to be mid ohio. Ill see if I can beat my mustangs time But I just don't trust anyone else on the street...I've seen to many accidents where people do some stupid things and end up getting seriously hurt. I want to feel all safe like I do in my mustang witht he full roll cage. I just don't want to pay out the *** to put a cage in. I wish I knew how to do it...If anyone has put a cage in, how hard is it? I didn't do my stangs because I don't want to trust my life to me tightening down some bolts.

if you look on the tag in the car they meet all federal crash standards in place at the time of manufacture, so they are as safe as any other car made that year

My buddy T-boned a tree at like 40 mph and he bent the radiator support. Still drove straight though. ????

well not as safe, guaranteed there are safer cars from the same years but they meet all of the requirements.

You could always by an old Volvo (240 etc.). Yeah, you'll probably die, but the car won't get a scratch

I doubt that car will hold up that great in a crash. Wasn't the ef made to be the cheapest car for the money?

my opinion, safe then, but not as safe now. So for today's standards, it's crap, but at one point it was safe enough.

It will be MUCH more dangerous to put in a cage and drive it on the street. The only time a cage should be used is when you have a race seat, 5 or 6 point belts (properly installed) and a helmet on.

You hit that roll cage with your melon on the street and you got alot more then your wrecked car to worry about.

My hatch didn't fare to well when it got t-boned by a 94 Jeep Cherokee

June 20th Rear ended by a Dodge Ram 1500
July 24th T-Boned by a Jeep Cherokee doing 10 over the speed limit (50mph)
Everyone involved in the accident survived. I suffered a concussion and stayed the night at the hospital, my 3 friends who were in the car; My one friend suffered a fractured pelvis she was sitting closet to the point of impact. The other two just had cuts and scrapes.
RIP B16 Hatch

You can't go wrong with a roll cage.

Even if it doesn't work, so what? What are you gonna do, complain? Get a refund? Your dead! Just hope it keeps your *** alive.

The legs are in dangerous position if someone hits you to front. And its kinda sandwitch any way.

I've never thought that so bad, dont crash.

EF's: great cars, with great engines (B's)

pretty light though...

Over here a lot of kids who jut got their licence now own EF's...(that' s why I keep stripping the cars down). Sometimes you see nasty things in the junkyard.

You (partly) can decide your own faith by the way you drive your car...

EF's rule!

get a 4 point roll bar... and not a cage, most harnesses are not street legal.

I think only the schroth is, but it has narrow webbing.

my suggestion.
get a rollbar, maybe a seat.

use the stock seatbelts on the street..
and a 5 point on the track.

or you can wear both on the street..

Or, even better than that.

Wear both belt and a helmet on the street LoL...wouldn't that get a lot of looks!

I have actaully seen guys in 240s on the freeway with helmets on! LoL.

I wanna see them pics, lol I am glad your ok.
I've been in 3 accidents:
1.) 90 s13 coupe "240sx"
35mph into and under the back of a Econoline. Totalled.
2.) 91 Prelude Si
35-40 mph head on into Nissan Pathfinder. Totalled.
3.) 87 CRX Si "EC"
35mph broad sided by Dodge Intrepid. Totalled.
In all 3 accidents I wore my seatbelt. I did not break any bones however, whiplash (soft tissue damage), and nerve damage was the result.
I'm ok but somedays I have trouble sleeping and migraines/headaches all damn day that impead my concentration, memory, and the ability to read and remember what it is I just read.
Sometimes I will read a paragragh over and over and it just won't "stick".
At least my head is still attached to the rest of my body
