Default GSR shifting problem

I have a 95 GSR engine/tranny in a 93 Civic Si Hatch. It has been running mint for about 16 months but last night I developed a problem.

I am experiencing a problem where I cannot shift into 2nd or 4th. It's like the shifter just won't go into those gears. It happens if I try and downshift or if I am driving 'nice.' If I give 'er and get up in the revs I can upshift into 2nd and 4th just fine. If this happens and I coast to a stop I cannot get into these gears until I accelerate in first and then shift. I have tried double clutching to bring the tranny up to speed but no go.

I recently installed a turbo on the car so I am leaning towards a bad clutch but I find it hard to believe it would only affect those 2 gears.

I have a no name short shifter, but shifting has been smooth as butter for 16 months.

Any help would be appreciated.

It COULD be...but it is not that shifting is difficult - it is impossible! It does not grind, it is completely locked out.

Nope - it's like the shifter forks are jammed. I just tested it and found that it won't go in reverse when it is locked. I just had to push it out of a parking spot

I will be changing the fluid and shifter tomorrow to see if that helps.

I drained the fluid and filled the tranny with Synchromesh today and it almost feels a little better but I am still getting times where 2nd and 4th are locked out. It does not grind into the gears - they are completely locked out.

Yeah....I am thinking about that too. The clutch came with my swap so I have no idea how many miles are on there other than the 12,000 I have put on it

I was going to change the clutch this winter because I put the turbo on recently and it sometimes slips It is not a big deal to me if it is the clutch.

I am going to see if I can get it to lock up while the car is off. I figure if it locks only when the car is running then it HAS to be the clutch.
