Default Did auto to manual - For some reason, auto seems to have more "kick" when i floor it

Ok, i think something is wrong with my conversion.

Originally, when I had an auto, the car kicks and starts or raor when i floor it at 3k.
I mean, the car basiaclly pause and just leeps forward at 3k and just roars takes of like a lion.

after the conversion, 2 weeks later, i decided that the break in period is over. so i floor it, i mean the pedal is all the way to the floor, and the car doesnt do nothing. not even a roar or a puase and then a big leap forward when i floor it. wtf?

something is wrong here.

i floor the gas all the way and all i hear is a little sputter and the rpm barely jumping. wtf?

and i suppose to step on the clutch when i floor it?

that pause before your "leap forward" when you had the auto was it downshifting. Your driving stick now not auto, you need to downshift yourself.

i dont know. i think when u floor it, it should go faster, not sputter and barley move (marios go kart).

speaking of downshifting, it also had more kick when i was auto. when i downshift from d3 to d2.

i think its my throttle cable, i'll try to get this fixed and see what happends.

I'm guessing this is your first stick car. Just because you floor the gas doesn't mean your going to go anywhere. It seems that whatever gear you're trying to do it in, your speed/rpms are too low. Hence why I said you have to downshift first, then floor it.

probably..

i mean when i floor it at low rpm on an automatic, it basically just puase and leeps forward.

guess its different on a 5 speed.

i'll drive my bro's celica Gts to see if its the same.

I already told you, that pause is the automatic down shifting. It's called a manual transmission for a reason. You need to manually do everything related to the gear changing. Someone didn't teach you to drive right

i see, so the auto tranny downshifts by itself when u floor it.

i did downshift and see the rpm jump to 5-6k, still didn't have the same kick or "roar" to it.

lol, Yah If I would have asked this last year I'd been flamed with 10+ pages,
H-, changs daily.

But yes, the pause in Auto is it downshifting, and in MT you have to do that your self
When I'm going say... 40MPH in 4th gear just cruising, if I want to go faster
I drop it from 4th gear to 2nd gear, that puts me at almost 6K rpms, then I shift at 7K RPM
its all about learning what gears hit what RPM at diffrent speeds,
But that was in my 87 integra with 238K miles,87 integra D16A1 7K Redline

Now I own a 90 integra rs modde up, still learning.

lol, I don't see how you don't understand what they are trying to tell you.

dude the pause is because the transmission is flowing the atf fluid in the transmission so it can downshift its self when its tcm senses the add throttle. in a manual car you are now doing everything that the auto did before, so when you floor it you stay in the gear that you are in and of course you not going anywhere your gonna be in a high gear. that why they are called "manual" you have to manually switch the gears.

Try going 40 mph in 2nd gear, then floor it and see what happens.

When you're cruising w/ an automatic, pretty much no matter what speed, you're going to be in top gear. When you press the gas it downshifts however many gears it deems necessary based on how much you opened the throttle, and it goes.

Keep in mind RPM can only change at any one given speed if the gear ratio changes, which is obviously what happens when you downshift.

what a nub. dude, in autos its called a 'kickdown lever'. it shifts you into a passing gear automoatically with 5 speed you need to shift to a gear (usually next lowest) to gain power at the beginning of the power band. i would make sure your throttle is adjusted right and then learn to drive stick. lol
