b18c tranny differences
ok basically what i want to know is if anyone with a b18c (any variant) with a gsr transmission, has switched to a b16 trans, or a usdm, or even better, jdm ITR trans. and how the shorter gears effected your 1/4mi times. thanks in advance
OK a b16 tranny will have the shortest gears of any honda tranny. Thats what i have on my b20 in 3rd gear if im doing 35 im doing about a liitle over 3 thousand rpms. the b16 tranny is the best tranny for the 1/4 mile becasue of the so short of gears witch benifit excelleration but thier not to good drivin on the highway doing about 70 your at almost 4 thousand rpms. a GS-R tranny is a little more pricey a jdm one with LSD it will cost you a little over 1500 dollers. but the GS-R tranny will last through a lot more than a b16 tranny. the GS-R is a really a dependable tranny and will go through a lot of beating. it has a little longer gears then a b16 but its still a pretty good tranny for the 1/4 mile thier not taribley long. THEN thier is the ITR tranny it has the best LSD one the market it will be the tranny that will put up with the most beating out thier has the best LSD set up the you can find and still has pretty short gears. BUT they are really pricey tranny so if your looking for a good tranny for the 1/4 mile short *** gears then go with the b16 and they do have an LSD b16 to for a little over 1000$ but if your looking for somthing you can jump on the highway with constantly a good lsd set up and something that still has pretty short gears and somthing you can beat the hell out of go GS-R if you got some money GO ITR sorry for the long thread but i hope it helps you
i have a jdm gsr lsd trans right now. i'm just not happy with the gearing, it winds the motor up pretty good on the highway. i know whats what, the jdm itr trans has the shortest gears, thats what i want, i just know it'll really spin the motor fast at highway speeds. i just basically want to know how much it will impact acceleration. i basically want 13's, i think my current setup is capable of 14.2ish, i did 14.4 on a hot day with bad 60' times, i'll have to improve my launch obviously. so yeah, i just basically wanna know how MUCH it will impact acceleration, if its not very significant i'm not going to persue it any further, if it will, i might look into a b16 lsd trans, or a jdm itr trans
