As you can see there is 3 different companies that make ball joints for my application. First question is OEM not one of these right? Also is the AC Delco ok or are they garbage. I can't believe it's like 35 bucks for just one, that's an arm and a leg for two. If they are all good then I'd rather buy the cheaper one.

I know people's going to say you get what you pay for but in some cases it might not be. Anyone's got experiences with any of these brands.

Also if the energy suspension kit, does it include the lower ball joint, I think of it because chances are I need to replace the rear control arm bushings too so maybe if it is then it's a better deal to get the energy suspension kit.

First off that page u link shows nothing and I don't feeling like searching through it...however I just used the ones from ebay and it's workng perfectly fine (i think like $35 for 2 shipped). Energy suspension only comes with a bushing/rubber cap for the ball joint and not the actual joint itself.

My theory is buy what you can afford or willing to pay. Seems to me you are not willing to pay $35 each.

From what I know AC Delco is GM's division and the belts I got from them seems pretty good quality. I heard about GM's problem in engine but never on suspension parts. TRW is also a big parts OEM but they are more of an asian aftermarket than OEM. I would say TRW and AC Delco should be pretty close in quality (but double check with pics from both).

I haven't heard of MOOG, but it maybe just me.

Hey thanks for keeping my post up haha....lol.

Anyways I hate being the guenie pig all the time, but I will buy those cheap suckers and tell you how they do, probably get them next week, and I'm getting both.

 

yeah i know how it is...i think im gonna go ahead and get both too...i guess the hardest part will be putting the joints back in the hub. hopefully they work out for us both!!! good luck ..i'll let you know how mine are when i get them

I used to work in a shop where I installed quite a bit of Moog parts in many different cars. As far as build quality goes, every Moog part I installed looked pretty decent. I'd say they're a close second to OEM.

 

well i ordered my ball joints yesterday and they came today!!! they look pretty damn good to me. the only thing that i did notice is that the threaded part doesn't pivot like the oem one does..but that shouldn't be a problem. i already took my stock ones out and am gonna have some guy at my bro's job (ford dealership) press them in for me. ill let you guys know how it goes...oh i'll take some pics too!!!

Hey how did you take them out, did you need to take the whole assembly out to press the ball joints in also. Good think My dad has a press machine at his garage.

i just did the regular shipping..but that place is in LA somwhere so it shouldn't take long anyway..

to take them out i just removed the whole hub assembly and layed it down on the ground and knocked the ball joint out with a hammer. you just have to be careful not not hit the brake dust shield or you will bend it out of shape.

as for pressing the joints in...i was going to do them myself w/ one of those autozone tools...but i thought that buying lunch for one of the techs at the ford service dept. (where my bro works) and having him press them in for me was easier.

as for the joints...they seem like they work..no complaints...but we'll see how long they last. oh yeah..in my previous post....the joints do move...its just since they're BRAND NEW they were hard to move..lol..oh well

I was trying to avoid taking the whole hub assembly out because I've never done that but if it make life easier then I will. It's not hard is it?

Yeah luckly my dads got a machine press in his garage so I'll be using that.

as for the hub assembly...its actually not that dificult. after you take your brake caliper off its pretty much three nuts..one for the upper arm...steering rod..and the lower ball joint. the only real pain is when these parts dont want to come off easily (usually they dont..and u have to use a hammer).
