I just bought a 8 point S & W cage for my Ek. What I was wanting to know is there anyone out there with Pix of there cage welded in. I need to know how to have the plate's welded in and where the bars need to welded on the hoop. Im not welding this together. Im taking it to a Welding shop. I just want to know whats going on before the welder does his job.
Any and All info is needed for the project. This is my 1st cage.

I just finished installing an S&W cage in a VW. Don't kid yourself, there's ALOT of fitting and work to be done. Going with that pre bent cage probably saves you 2 hours out of the whole project.
i dunno maybe its just that picture, but htat roll bar looks to have at leat 4 inch of room between the mainhoop and the car. Is it just camera angle?
The one i just installed is the same way, can't expect much more than that from a pre bent cage most of the time. I'd recommend to spend a little extra and get a custom cage done, it'll fit much better.

I agree we are installing one now and personally i think it takes more work installing a pre bent. you basically have to hold ever peice in the car to make sure the main hoop is in the right place so you have enough room to notch the other peices such as the piller bars and rear tree down tubes.
I also think it personally fits like ****, the notches are burned out and not to close to fitting the way i would like. definatly easier and much nicer to just fab on up custom.

The cage Tony speaks of is in my car. The rear half of the cage, including the door bars is alright(pretty damn good thanks to Tony), but the halo and the a-pillars bars are junk. You should be okay with the 8 point, but if you wanna do a full cage, at the very least, the a-pillar bars need to be custom.
