Default '04 GSXR hesitation

So I picked up a '04 GSXR600 not too long ago. Bike has PCIII, head work, suspension stuff, blah blah blah.

Now to the problem... at 5k rpm theres a major stumble. It feels like its cutting out (feels kind of like a fuel cutoff). The hesitation only happens at 5k rpm and only at light to mid throttle. Doesnt happen when I get on it. Also, it seems to happen more when the bike is warm.

I'm thinking it's a mapping problem or a PCIII problem. I'm going to disconnect the PCIII to see if it goes away. Any thing else I should check?

I would say check the connections to and the condition of the TPS as well as the PC. It sounds like you are on it though.

does it feel like your bouncing on and off the throttle? like your gassing it then letting it go and gassing it and letting it go again?

friend of mine has an 01 Gix 6 and he noticed that very same problem after he put on a slipon. You didn't say if you had a slip or not, but with the head work, you may be getting the same problem.

To fix it, he had to get a PCIII & and a custom map, as all of the downloaded maps didn't fix the problem. The wielly co (spelling) map came close in that area, but it didn't completly fix it. It is a map related problem.

mapping problem it is!

Just disconnected the PCIII and went for a ride. The hesitation is gone, so is the flat spot (dont want to go past 7krpm since that wasnt a problem and its probably running lean has hell). Time to go schedule a appt with the dynoman

The bike already has a custom map but I guess they did a crappy job of it. Got it dyno'd at 102.1hp, 43.7tq. In referance, a stock gsxr600 pulled about 96hp that day

Oh, dyno runs are cheap but custom maps are $$ (about $250)
