Default What is the best way to splice harness wires?

Hey guys. I just received my integra dash, and will be installing it this week. The dash came with the integra underdash harness, but I couldn't find the integra blue plug, because I think it was cut off. There are some other ends of the harness that look incomplete also. Oh well.

Anyways, most likely I will be splicing everything to the civic underdash harness, which unfortunately is the harder way to do things.

My question is: What is the best/cleanest way to splice wires? I have done only a little bit of splicing before, and I don't have a lot of experience with it. I do know that it usually isn't very hard as long as you take your time and do it thoroughly.

From those of you that have a lot of experience splicing wires, please let me know what you think.

Thankyou.

Soldering the wires is a must if it's for a harness, then black electrical tape, and then heatshrink over that. Repeat as necessary.

Strip back about 1/2 inch on each half to be joined. Slide a piece of shrink tubing on one of the wires. Twist the two bare wires together and solder them. Slide the shrink tubing over the bare soldered connection and heat it to shrink it down over the splice. Use the shrink tubing with the heat activated adhesive on the inside. Any good electronics store should have the shrink tubing. Most good auto parts stores have it too.

Thanks for the detail.

Does is matter what kind of solder I use? I think there are a few different kinds if I remember right.

Use a 63/37 Tin-lead solder (Kester 44). Its the easiest to use and best for this application
