Default Fuel pump wiring

My main relay is shot. I troubleshot it, with a jumper harness, like the repair manual says, the injector side is fine, but the fuel pump side isn't, so as a result, my DA won't start. it's been happening for awhile, but you could turn the key off and on a few times, and it would cut the pump on, but now it is flat dead. Is it safe to just run the pump off a toggle switch for now, until I can get a new relay, or will that burn other **** up. I really need this car to run for me, I can't miss work on my first couple of days. Does anyone know if that is a safe, or smart thing to do??
