On a road course, how many of you..............
95% of the time, it's only those who are actually racing, because of the requirements. For schools, helmet and long pants/sleeves are required. Half of those people wear gloves.
nope, id say just wear something that covers your whole body. dont have bare skin sticking out.
if the Race Regulations saids dont need it, then there must be a good reason for it
so me, unless the regulations say they need it, i dont use em.

well i've never driven on the track, but whenever i go, i make fun of the people who buy full suits just for drivers ed or whatever. wheel to wheel, definately get a suit, but just other stuff, thats a little excess, and therefore humorous...
and if i've offended anyone, what the hell do i know?

actually wear a full racing suits with fire-resistance underwear, socks, shoes, gloves etc....

so, what makes it more funny if you are just lapping?
There stil is the potential of a high speed impact, that could rupture the fuel tank (even more potential because its a stock tank, not a fuel cell) and cause a fire..
Its safety.. cant be too safe ANYTIME out on the track.

For HPDE type events it is not needed. Some clubs don't even need long sleeves, though I would always wear them.
Again it is like anything in this hobby, the more you do it the more safty gear becomes important.
SPiFF, who currently does not have a suit, but will need to get one for ECHC.

some may poke fun at people wearing race attires but they are no doubt worn for a reason. i would gladly accept any humiliation of being seen in one knowing it may save my well being than look cool in the eyes of some.

Personally, after wearing full safety gear when w2w I feel uncomfortable on the track even for a HPDE if I am not fully suited. I however frequently laugh at drivers who wear their suit around all day "frontin' " and being racy. Wear it in the car.

Wearing the suit isn't that bad, because you can wear shorts underneath. As soon as you're out of the car, you can hop out of the suit, or keep it on if it's cold.

Sometimes because it is required with other groups and they are trying to get used to the attire. Ferrari Club does (or did?) require driving suits for anyone beyond their "beginner" group, which I never understood. Yes, the cars are faster than Hondas, but the students typically aren't, and you're in much greater need of a rollbar/cage-&-harnesses (not required) than you are in need of fire resistant attire during 99% of on-track incidents worth mentioning. Strange...

I can't imagine why anyone would make fun of someone wearing a suit for ANY roadracing event, school or not. What, is that rice now? Come on, guys.
It would be one thing if you wore it all through the post race BBQ or something like that, but on the track? Give 'em credit for spending $500 on safety rather than something stupid and dangerous.

Most of you probably know this, but if you're not wearing a suit, make sure everything on your body is 100% cotton. It's also a good idea when flying...in the 70s, when everyone was wearing polyester leisure suits, my dad did a few cases where fire ripped through the cabin of a jet, the people wearing plastic were NOT happy campers.
