You wanna dance, you have to pay the piper. FYI, I've saved several thousand in part discounts by joining the NSXCA. I consider it a no-brainer.
Hope to see some of you guys at the next NSXPO. Planning to visit the "Tail of the Dragon" immediately before or after too.

Sheesh. If you're going to complain, at least get your information right.
If you want to attend, then it's true, you have to be a member of the NSX Club of America - although you get other nice benefits for your $40 annual dues, like the very nice NSX Driver newsletter, discounts on parts and service from many dealers and vendors, local activities in many parts of the country, etc. Most folks who go are already club members because they enjoy being part of the club and getting those benefits, and they also feel it's worthwhile to support the NSX Club as an integral part of the NSX community. So it's not really fair to claim that the $40 membership dues are part of the cost of the event.
If you wanted to go to the three-day social activities, and you get your application in before the expiration date of the early bird discount, then it was $275 per person. For that, you got meals (really NICE meals) consisting of lunch and dinner for all three days, plus a cocktail reception, plus social activities (this year included half a day of indoor karting), plus snazzy mementos (this year consisting of a very nice soft-sided sport bag plus a DVD of the event plus a nice embossed key chain), plus admission to the seminars, vendor displays, etc.
If you wanted to drive in the two-day all-NSX drivers school on the racetrack, it was another $375 with the early bird discount. The one-day autocross was $50. These are typical prices for track events and autocrosses anywhere, and this is the only place you can go to an all-NSX event. Oh, and club members could be spectators at the track for no charge.
Those who attended the event understand that this is not just a collection of activities. NSXPO is the chance to get together with old friends and form new friendships. It's the annual event when the NSX community gets together to celebrate and enjoy each other's company. You have to be there to understand the feeling of camaraderie among the attendees. If you have never attended one, you probably just don't get it.
Club volunteers do all the work to put on the event, so the only expenses that the event incurs are for outside vendors (e.g. food, mementos, printing, insurance, track and facility rentals, admissions, shipping, etc). Of course, there are always a few people who complain, because they expect that these events will be held for free and expect someone else to pay all the expenses needed for the event to take place.
Those who attended thought it was a terrific event, and were happy to pay their fair share of the expenses needed to put it on. I bet most even considered it worth every penny!

For all the benefits of membership, I feel its well worth it. Forty dollars is not much at all for what you get. I pay $20 a year for my s2ki membership; the benefits being very similiar to the NSXCA ones. We get discounts on parts, tons of groupbuys for aftermarket parts, tons of information, track events, and also meeting fellow owners. I myself will not be a s2k owner soon but I just renewed my membership. Why? I feel its worth it. Sidenote...s2ki offers 2 members, one for $20 and $50 for the other. I forgot the differences but there are many who put out the 50 a yr.
Sorry to get off on a tangent but IMO its well worth paying a few bucks for the NSXCA membership. You'd prob waste that $40 on useless junk, might as well spend it on something useful
<--Thinking about joining and isn't even a NSX owner YET
